Gee, and here I thought what a fine car I have. It's a 2012 with some up grades and has been my daily driver for 3 1/2 months and a daily joy. Now I look with sadness at my little red jewel because our rainy season is starting here in California

My advice is do what I did......Sell it, am no longer a Morgan owner but have paid for in depreciation the right to post I feel. Was full of joy when I bought my Brooklands and also full of joy when I sold it, I went through 2 sets of exhausts and numerous other problems, The car is a pile of underdeveloped crap end of, you may persevere but at the end you will be full of disappointment and resentment as I was. I have bought an Ariel Atom instead which is fully developed and reliable, Morgan are relying on brand loyalty and peoples seemingly blind inability to see beyond the fact that the car is interesting to drive but is ultimately unreliable, oh and it will also deteriorate and depreciate very quickly, sell it before it's too late!!! Apart from the exhaust issues (which can be fixed by a second flexible joint, it appears..) what other issues caused your angst? You can't avoid depreciation if you buy any car new and sell it within months. Did you return the car as unsuitable, or did your feelings turn to paranoia and jump ship first? It matters not any longer, though. I hope you have a better experience with your Atom, because when all is said & done, it's all about feeling good.

The Atom is a great car but the Ariel Nomad goes even further. However I suspect by the time you have added the windscreen, road pack & other essentials you are well above £45k.

Update: Mk IVs are on their way here, my dealer was at the dealers meeting and reassured me (that he was himself reassured) that MMC won't fail me until all is sorted. I do hope all this time was used for them to redesign whatever needs redesigning in the Brooklands exhausts. I will report, as I usually do, when things progress, I'm sorry for my silence lately, I've been refraining to write in TM because the written word can be damaging, and this story isn't over until the fat lady sings, and the sound of her voice is loud, deep, earth-shaking, but not ... cracked  PS - Maybe I should call my beloved Brooklands "the Diva" ("Fat Lady" is also nice, lol)

Hi Stan, thanks for your concern. MMC was very slow to react this time, but it seems (or so my dealer tells me) that my name is known up there and my ordeal recognized (I think it's the way I persevere that must be raising eyebrows, lol, there's a crazy portuguese that won't just give up). Anyway, things got funny this weekend because I decided to do one of "those weekends" to get the rust off me and of the M3W. So I did about 600 kms and ... (drums to announce something new and relevant) ... the right hand side exhaust begun to crack (I know this story is difficult to folow, but this is the Mk2 set, the one that got the left side mended at Caramulo and kept safe until Mk3 cracked). So, what to do, you ask? Simple, but I must do a quick recap: Mk 1 - left side failed August 2014, full set changed at Williams Morgans and was left there to be returned to the factory. Mk 2 - left side failed September 2014, was re-welded at Caramulo until Mk3 arrived to Portugal (December 2014) Mk 3 - left side failed August 2015. full set removed from the car and Mk2 reinstated so I could show up at Caramulo. Mk2 -(second life) - left side failed once again in September 2015, and once again at Caramulo. Again the Museum took care of my car and that same exhaust was again re-welded. Mk2 (third life) - November 2015, the right side, the one that never had failed before, cracked finally. It did outlast the left side (welded twice in the meantime) by a lot. So what now, while I wait for Mk4? Simple. I have a Mk2 set with the right side cracked and a Mk3 set with the left side cracked. It's only a question of mixing the left Mk2 with the right Mk3 and I'm good to go ... a few kms more Got to keep the spirits up, ya know ...

I was wondering whether you have any idea how the, so called, Mk 4's differ? And whether you have received any convincing assurance that the problems have finally been addressed?
Have you seen the fairly recent post showing, I believe, a Garage 56 set of pipes or somesuch where a second flexi joint sits just in front of the exhaust box? Looks neat and is recognised as the way forward for our particular Brookland's issue as well as standard exhausts. I hope and wonder whether the factory have cottoned on to the relatively straightforward engineering solution to the problem. Here's hoping...
