I need the attention of every morgan 3w owner. i received, yesterday, an email from the part department of the Morgan dealer who sold me my 3W i have copy of every email so...i can speak honestly i'm not saying is dealer's fault but...shame on Morgan they told me i have to pay for my kit ( 50 pounds ) at the first they told me i had to pay for the shipment and i agreed with it. I send my chassis number and i told them i live very far from the italian dealer ( it's 1100 km trip ) so i was glad to pay some mechanic to do the job
yesterday the surprise...it's free all over the world but not for me so i told to the dealer ...Shame on Morgan...but i agree to pay the kit but inform them i'll write this on the web
i just receive another email ...the morgan motor company respond like this ...
The reply from the Morgan Motor Company is that these kits must be fitted by a Morgan dealer so cannot be sold to the general public as they have to keep a record of which cars have been checked.
ok...what will you do in my place ? As I understand it you should receive a letter directly from Morgan asking you to arrange for your dealer to inspect your car and, if no cracking is found, they will then fit the chassis kit free of charge. Once this is done then the dealer should inform Morgan that the inspection and fitting of the kit have been carried out. Perhaps there is some confusion with you trying to order the kit directly? I will PM you the email address of the department at Morgan who I believe are co-ordinating this.

when i saw the kit here i wrote to the dealer ( 5 August 2015 ) and he told me it was for free and i have to send him my chassis number. in the meantime i order a urban kit too.
i live near Rome and from her to Milan ( go and go back ) it's about 1100 kms i told him my car is ok so i just need the kit like i said...i can pay for it but i don't understand why is free for all the world and not for me and...how can Morgan say something like " general public "
my dealer know me and i actually have a 3w ...come on...

I hope there is not a cut off date on this "recall". My local Morgan service dealer in France (Esprit Competition) is shut at the moment due to family illness and has been since July. My M3W is going into storage on Friday until spring while I am back in the UK, so in spite of my best efforts, I have neither been able to get the check done nor the kit fitted. I also need another new compensator from the horrible clanking noises coming from the bell housing. I believe my 2012 car had the aluminium compensator fitted, according to factory records, when the original failed during the running-in period. the car has now done 4700km.

I don't understand why it is not free for you. It seems to be free for everyone else. I would talk to your dealer and demand an explanation!

I suspect that the issue here it's MMC policy that the kit must be fitted and verified by an Official Morgan dealer. Most likely for legal reasons.
I accept that it's bad luck if your nearest dealer is several hours away. There should be an alternative arrangement for owners in this position IMO. Surely the most important thing is that the kits get fitted one way or another?

It'a simple job to fit the kit... let me be clear...i live very far from the italian dealer so Morgan decide i don't have it but no...i can have it if i pay for it...
but because the upset me i decided to not pay for it so my chassis one day will be crack and they have to change all of it..
which one is the better solution ? send me the kit or not ?
come on it's ridiculous

I believe a key part of the chassis upgrade is for an authorised Morgan dealer to inspect the chassis before it is fitted. This may be why you are having trouble just getting the chassis brace kit sent to you.

This is ridiculous ... if there's a problem with older 3W chassis then the client should pay ZERO in the process of it being "fixed". If MMC demands the "fixing" to be done by dealer (and I understand that) then they should offer compensation for anyone that has considerable costs to get the car to the dealer. And of course any and all parts needed for the "fix" should be free.
drk I'm not sure if this applies to you but I belong to an automobile association from my country (I suppose there's one in every country ion Europe) and my membership grants me two yearly vehicle tow truck transportantions, no questions asked. Maybe you also have something similar? Also, maybe your credit cards or even the M3W insurance allows for it to be towed to the dealer, if you claim there's a problem to the car that needs it to be assisted?
Just ideas to help out, I really think you should get your car checked and fixed, you will be in great danger if you continue using your M3W without doing it.
