This space is where my fire extinguisher is bolted on. I did this the day after fuel started blowing out of the leaky tubes on the engine. Glad it's there!
What's your mileage? Who cares. Is it practical? See #1. What happens when it rains? You get wet.

I made a small wooden shelf with a lip in front of the passenger attached through the panel beside the fuse box. A map pocket in the passenger foot well with 2 battens interference fit between the side tubes. I had photos here but they seem to have disappeared.
A sat nav dash mat may hold a small tray in place in front of the gear lever.

Thanks Everyone,
Lots of options - I like the OEM look of the Willie & Max Take along Bag.
Will try to find a soft tool bag/roll to attach under the bonnet. All larger items are destined for the passenger footwell or my luggage rack. Don't like the idea behind the optional luggage rack - because I have to remove it to open the rear cover.

Its fits perfectly & holds alot. Doesn't bother the passenger in anyway. The factory side pockets are useless
