I'm looking forward to another installment from David G. I wonder if he has been able to rack up a few miles since his initial impressions report?

Hi Guys,
Thanks for your interest!
I am still in one piece as is probably the best 3.7 in existence now it can be driven as a sports car with a phenomenal power to weight ratio should be capable of using the power supplied by our whiter than white Ford motor company. Also by shear fluke managed to spot the mobile camera vans before they spotted me so still have a driving licence.
Due to the fact that the sun as been shinning and my bike racing season is over(won the senior classic TT privateer cup again and second in the junior)I have covered about 1500 miles in the Roadster which the more I drive it the better it gets.
The first significant thing I found was that I had to Readjust the front Suplex kit one rebound spring was under compression the other had 7mm of free play.Very strange!not at all.the reason being that the four leaf springs fitted from new had a major variation to each other which meant that the corner weight of the car was unbalanced this was being compensated by the fact that the Suplex front kit can be set to accommodate such variation,to a degree obviously not cure it.
With the 5link Suplex rear you can set up the corner weights spot on and that's the start point for the dramatic improvement in driving quality.
I have found an advantage to me by raising the rear ride height 10mm this allows me not to scrape my lovely car on my drive on leaving for a drive but I feel the car steers better with absolutely no over or understeer.
Incidentally you can adjust the position of the rear axle with this system so that the rear axle to front axle will track perfectly this simply done with a bar at each side attached to the axle and the original front spring mount with a with a RH/LH thread arrangement so any competent lazertracker can get both axles in line.
I have made various setting changes to damping but have come back to where I started on the mid setting which gives me what I want.At low speed its maybe a little firm for some people but at high speed cornering smooth or bumpy roads I carnt fault it no roll no wallowing no chassis flex and I have truly tested this car at all speeds on all types of surfaces.
Now to the front,I have changed the standard shocks for a set of development units to good effect low speed cornering is not improved but higher seed performance is much better.I think that for the serious track day driver or spirited driver on the road that the new adjustable fronts will be the answer.I am waiting for a set of these to arrive and I shall report on these in due course.
Remember the straights only join up the corners!
Best regards to all from one very happy 3.7 Driver
David

Thanks very much for your report David. I'm really looking forward to laying my hands on a kit. Due to the variable loads that I carry, from just me to swmbo and full touring kit, I am already planning to use the adjustable dampers at the rear. As for changing the front Bilsteins to adjustables I'll have to think about that a bit.

By the way congratulations on the Classic TT results.

Peter
