Give me the evidence that is not based on computer models. The arctic sea ice gained 30% in 2013 and there has been no global increase in average temperature for over a decade. Your graph shows concentrations of co2 but these levels have been seen before in years gone by. Did ancient man have diesel engines etc. In 1843 they were convinced of a northwest passage because of warming but they got stuck. Report in the Times of the day.

Climate change is a constant. Has been since the begining of time.

Human infestation of the planet has increased the rate of release of CO2 and thus the planet is warming more than it might otherwise have done. BUT cars are only a part of the cause.

The CO2 released comes mostly from burning hydrocarbons and from intensive farming. The largest contributor to CO2 release from butrning hydrocarbons is electricity generation, according to the US EPA. Transport is a close second.

Another source (International Energy Agency)states Coal is responsible for 43% of carbon dioxide emissions from fuel combustion, 36% is produced by oil and 20% from natural gas. The UK is particularly bad, 70%+ of our electricity comes from hydrocarbon combustion. France is only 8.5% and Switzerland burns no hydrocarbons to produce electricity.

It is easier to attack the motor industry than do anything serious to generate green electricity. So that is what we get.

I have just been for a walk in god's fresh air with my eldest son, a daily event, and a thought crossed my independant mind. I assume you are on this site because you own a Morgan and like the majority on this site it is not your sole form of transport. Why, then being a manmade global warming zealot, do you own a hydrocarbon burning vehicle that is of no practical use carrying out pointless journies - sounds a bit hypocritical to me. I have three vehicles but with a clear concious as I do not believe in man made global climate change. If governments were serious about global climate change they would ban Morgan, Porche, Farrari etc.

Whilst I'm all in favour of everyone using fossil fuels as economically as possible, and reducing as much as we can the pollution of our planet, I find the intolerant attitude of global warming enthusiasts towards other people who are not true believers rather disquieting. The implication that they have all the answers displays a remarkably arrogant approach to the issue.

Computer models of the climate do not take the indirect effects of solar activity into account when calculating the change in global climate. Human activity counts for about 5% of carbon dioxide emitted into the atmosphere each year, yet the sun accounts for all of the energy striking the Earth and driving it's climate, ocean currents and atmosphere.

There is plenty of anecdotal evidence to support the argument that the main driver of global temperature is solar activity. When Erik the Red founded his settlements in Greenland over 1000 years ago the temperatures there were considerably higher than in the present day; this coincided with high levels of sunspot activity. Likewise, the "little ice age" of the late 17th century occurred when there was remarkably little solar activity.

Despite what the climate change industry would have us believe, we just don't know how the Earth’s climate really changes over time, nor how changes in solar activity drive climate change. From a scientific point of view I find the intolerance towards alternative opinion totally unacceptable.

Oh, and the recent VW scandal shows how obsession with only one aspect of pollution (CO2) can lead our political masters to encourage us all to drive diesel cars, totally ignoring all the other (maybe far worse) toxic pollution that they produce.

Oh dear I cannot continue in this good debate as I am about to leave on a 200 mile trip to the Lake District for a couple of days hiking. I will get there, hopefully, by means of the most liberating invention, that of the internal combustion engine. If we need refueling it will take but a few minutes. Regards.
