Erm? What exactly is a "bobbin"? And a "rectifier"? The term "bobbin" refers to the shape of old cotton reels, and in this case is a small rubber mounting with a male screw thread at each end. You poke one end through a hole & screw a nut on, that sort of thing. Used for mounting things onto vibrating surfaces & thus isolating the vibration to the attachment. The "rectifier" is a device that converts AC current to DC. More here

So I'll start with '& I absolutely love the car' it's beauty, it's style and feel and what it delivers is truly amazing. Everyone feels part of and is involved with your drive when you're on the road and adds to the most positive experience anyone can have with a vechicle, simply by their 'jaw dropping smiling' facial expressions
I originally looked at a JZR fitted with an FX Harley engine and absolutely wanted one there & then with its simply stunning looks. Following that spoke to Pete Larson (Liberty Motors Seattle) back in 2009 about the possibility of bringing an ace cycle car across the pond but simply too expensive to consider. Went back on line to the Liberty site in 2011 only to see 'licensed by Morgan' on their page, so re-looked at Morgan releasing the 2011/12 M3W 'hooked' had to get one! Mine was Ledgerwoods demonstrator then resold by oakmere advertised on eBay I hovered on the mouse but didn't click- it sold! then 3 months later reappeared but a couple of thousand pounds cheaper due to 'the wife doesnt like it. 'Happy days', a black n chrome n orange 3500 miler complete with brooklands wheel. Since then I've covered 7500 miles have had two broken exhausts on separate occasions a broken throttle cable resulting in a 7 hour roadside wait and flatbed recovery and now a double cracked broken chassis, discovered by my mate Matty at Brooklands Morgan day, so currently awaiting recovery back to the M3W shed at Morgan Motor Company. The Factory to date have been absolutely fantastic & conversations have been thoroughly constructive and sought to resolve the issues of an early 2012 car.
I'm looking fwd to a position where the car comes back with a new 2011/14 hybrid chassis (2011 rear end/2014 front end) and Centa compensator. I will also get any corrosion sorted and and have new nuts, bolts & washers fitted during the refit so the backend will look the part again. Would I buy again - Of course I would

There's little doubt I'd love her, but here in the Colonies dealerships are far and few....I'm lucky b/c mine is "Only" about 2.5 hrs away. So, although everyone loves theirs and the consensus is do over in a heart beat, I wonder if that lust would fade being stranded by the side of the road for 7 hrs only to have the car flat bedded to my home..and then figure a way of getting it to the dealer 2 hrs away. It wouldn't take too many of those experiences to creep me out every time I went for a ride and therefore ruin the whole reason for the purchase.
Test drive next week, I suppose that might clarify things...although I must admit to having a (growing!) list of very cool kit to go along with it!

Does anyone know the incidence of fish tail exhaust fracture on the Brooklands edition, and if so at what is the mileage distribution?

I have a 2014 Brooklands. I took it from home (Pleasanton, CA) up to Canada in August. It had about 4500 miles on it when I started. The plan was for about a 3600 mile round trip.
The left exhaust cracked at about 5500 miles but it was still driveable. I didn't get a temporary weld.
The right exhaust cracked at about 6000 miles. Again, still driveable and I didn't get a temporary weld.
At about 6500 miles the right exhaust came apart so there was about a 1/4" gap which made it very loud.
At 7000 miles the starter broke. I was in Montana and I had to have it shipped back to the dealer. My mechanic sent me a video which appears to show a stripped gear so the starter turns but the engine doesn't turn.
I have been told that just about every Brooklands gets broken exhausts, but that the replacement exhausts I will be getting are upgraded.
I am waiting for S&S to decide if they want to rebuild or replace my engine. I've been waiting over a month so I'm not very impressed with their customer service.
I am told I'm not the only person whose engine has failed in this way. There are apparently some engine upgrades I will be getting when it is fixed but I don't know what they are.

The newer M3W seems to have remained faithful to the original in most areas except one, the original three wheelers were created to be affordable alternatives to the competition of the day. Sadly, that concept seems to have been lost.
Some of the problems listed here seem relatively minor, especially if they are repairable by the owner, but things like chassis cracks, premature wearing out of belt sprockets, repeated breaking of transmission shift linkage, etc., are pretty worrisome, especially at the prices the contemporary 3 wheeler seems to command.
What is the nature of the failed chassis problems? Are the chassis cracks occurring in the same places, and is the failure due to poor design, poor materials, poor workmanship, or all of the above? Are the replacements improved in any way to address the problem?

Masses have been written on here about the chassis failures and a quick browse round the search facility will bring back many tales of woe. Makes interesting reading. BTW - I'm still waiting for my letter. Am I the only one?

No letter.
My (new) dealer must train mechanics from all over Sweden before the brace can be installed.
My local mechanic is twenty minutes away, the dealer over three hours...
M3W, now!!!

I didn't get a letter in the mail per say, what I got was an email from my dealer with a PDF attachment of a letter saying that I should contact the nearest dealer for an inspection.
