My tax disc holder is alloy - branded Morgan, with five fiddly countersunk allen setscrews. Tonight I've replaced the tax disc in half the time it took last time. First take out the top three screws. Then slacken off the lower two, but not too far. The top of the back plate will now come away at the top by a few mm. Now take a short length of masking tape (sticky side towards tax disc) - and slot it down inside the holder from the top. Push the back plate up so that the masking tape sticks to the old tax disc. Now you can pull it out. The replacement disc can just be dropped in. If you like it 'level' (like me - sad but true  )- it can be adjusted with a corner of masking tape slotted from the top as before. Then tighten all the screws.........

Hi Dave, You do like a challenge. I had one of those and it had a short lifespan. I replaced it with a repro Desmo type with the screw back suction device which has the Morgan Wings on the central back screw. I bought it on e bay from a dealer called 'Jags of Bursledon' for £9 + P&P who specialises in them for all marques. With mine, you have to screw it up fully to see where the Morgan logo end up and then turn the whole thing so that it is level when tightened next time. simples yes.

Then tighten all the screws......... .....  or you could just twist the backplate anti-clockwise a quarter-turn! Just remember to reverse the process to get it back on. Works for me! Regards Alan

No twist function on mine I'm afraid. I like the 'hewn from a billet'look, but in truth it came with the Mog, so I can't take the credit/blame for this. Vinyl tax disc holders are an affront to the traditional handmade ethos of Morgan..
