Just want to be the first to report that the 22 cylinder Morgan convoy, aka Steve, Brian and Paul, rolled into the Morgan Austria party today, tops down, and when I last saw them just before dusk, they seemed to be having an excellent time. They were talking their heads off while all of their lovelies (plus mine) were tucking into the wine and apfel strudel. In the space of a couple of hours they had all become honorary Austrians. Genie and I had a good chat to Steve who impresses with his enthusiasm, depth of knowledge and down-to-earthness. Brian and Paul scored marks from Genie because they didn't treat her like a spare part. And somehow she ended up being dubbed First Gear. Blimey! There was a good line-up of Morgans - I guess fifty or more - and Hannes will probably post a pic or two. So well done the three trans-continental mogs and thanks to our hosts at Morgan Austria who put on a terrific end-of-season party.

Kerry, thank you for the summary. We all had a good time in Trumau!
The light was not easy for getting reasonable pictures. Have uploaded some in the Morgan photo section.

Good man! Nice colour combo. A Rolls Royce metallic Blue....rather tasty! Was chatting to a couple at the car, he said he'd had a number of Morgan's and currently owned a 3.7 Roadster. Then looked at me, asked if we'd met before and said I was vaguely familiar. Then asked if I was on TM! He's R1006 the owner of "Mustang Sally"....a small world eh? And he's coming to our gathering at Gaydon next month.

What a great party, we really enjoyed ourselves. Morgan Austria laid-on super food and a great gathering of Morgan's. We had some difficulty finding the TM'ers, when asking for the Austrian, most people replied that were we're all mainly Austrian's here! Anyway we eventually were found by Hannes and his gorgeous daughter and through them met Kerry and Genie. After looking at some cars, including Kerry's super 4/4 of 1968 (?) vintage (hope I got the year right?) Genie was introduced to our Navigators, Handbrake, Turn and Clutch and she was immediately added to the gang as 1st-gear! Took various people out for test drives, including a photographer (Steve took his journalist colleague) and they had driven up from Dubrovnik for the event. Some 74 miles done today because of these rides. Apparently the new environmental tax on an Aero-chassisied car is €30,000 in Austria! Phew, makes us realise how lucky we are. All too soon it was time to leave and say goodbye to our new found friends, many thanks to Jorge, his wife and Rudi - we had a great time and loved the black pudding hash (please note Turn for when we get home). We returned to our hotel in Tromau and luckily there was a bier Keller opposite - nuff said. Tomorrow we drive to Frankfurt so stay tuned...

Sounds like you're having a great trip Brian - very envious!
There won't be many Aeros/Plus 8s sold in Austria then!

A pleasant drive over the Pyrenees to within striking distance of the Picos, our next destination. The drive from Dieppe through France's volcanic region and the Tarn Gorge was on roads devoid of any traffic. No motorways or dual carriageways used. Changing to 195/65 tyres has overcome the hazard of speed bumps. An extra half an inch makes such a difference.

The trips sounding great Brian....very envious and it certainly beats standing around a freezing cold shopping mall promoting Morgan. You can tell Steve that!

Newbury to Amsterdam via France and Belgium (Car park) Then Amsterdam to Hilversum Monday to Thursday. 1000 miles on the wrong side of the road - great fun.
Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

Just to add that the Vehicle Registration Tax here in Ireland on an Aero Chassis car is 35% of what the revenue decide the market value of the car is --- so about €40,000 - makes such a car a lottery win purchase!!!!!!!!!
Would "almost" make me want to emigrate - but then I realise we are still in the rugby World Cup!!!!!!!!!! At least till to-day anyway!!
