I have P7 APR (Peter, 7th April) bought from DVLA when the system first started. It is a bit of fun: DVLA had 1 PJ or PJJ1, I forget, for sale at auction. It went for "six figures"...totally silly.
Talking of personal numbers I noticed a nice red XK8 on the M3 with 1DO. Driven by a very attractive blond....
Wonder what that cost?

Why do people buy personal plates ?

My plate was on ebay for £1000 but on dvla 250 some people try it on so look about for the same plate if you find one you like

Agree with the majority Lawrie! Try the DVLA site first but also keep and eye on their auctions, one coming up tomorrow until 28 October with online bidding. The dealers mainly buy here then sell at a premium but most do offer really cheap plates, Northern Ireland or with an X from around £99. Good hunting!

Why do people buy personal plates ? To personalise. I have been lucky that I got two plates on cars I bought. Although neither mean anything they are older formats which I quite like.

Why do people buy personal plates ? I dont know! I bought myself one ( almost spells the family surname) at auction and now am embarrassed about putting it on a car.
