Help, the little pipe that goes from the top of the radiator to the header tank of my 2007 plus4 has fatigued off. Do I need to replace the radiator and if so how on earth do you get it out?? Presumably I cant drive the car anywhere until it is fixed!! Help please - frustrated from London

I assume it's the original brass/copper radiator? It will have to come out to have it repaired but you could replace it, just depends on the funds. I lowered mine out through the bottom. Take it out with the fan on but be careful it's heavy!!!
You need to take the track rods off the centre of the steering rack and the lower mounting plate on one side, disconnect all the hoses and mountings. It then falls out, well it's best to lower it on a jack.

2007 would be one of the plastic radiators (look for tanks either side of the radiator core rather than top and bottom) sadly it's a very common problem. Contact Peter Mulberry at Mulfab for a solution, it will mean a new radiator but then rad problems will be a thing of the past......it's either that small outlet or the top hose outlet that snaps off on a regular basis.

Chaps you've got it - the plastic one!! and yes the small outlet has snapped off - I've spoken to Peter and of course my radiator is the expensive one at +£500. Have you got any idea who makes the generic plastic one - I've been searching but I cant find this closely guarded secret anywhere!. If I can't get a replacement plastic one at a normal price then I'll go for Peters definitely. Thanks for the feedback

I wouldn't bother with another plastic one, it's destined to fail again. I'm planning to budget for an Ali one , seems once fitted you can forget it plus they are more effective at cooling..

Go for the Mulfab fix. Clearly a design flaw with so many folk wt same problem. I changed for Al radiator and do not regret it. The plastic rad is not cheap either, I recall.
