Need direction for wiring of a 54 Morgan. I have the wiring diagrams for the 1950-1953 and the 1955-58. I also have wiring diagram for a TR2,3,3A is looks similar to the 55-58 diagram. Additionally I have a list of wires from the gomog.com/allmorgan/wirePre-1970 and a list from gomog.com/allmorgan/LucasColours.html.
Each one is a little different. Has anyone wired up a 54, if so, what diagram did you use?
Thanks for any help!!

I guess it depends on whether your priority is originality or safety/reliability. If the former, then the 1953 layout is probably the most accurate representation of what MMC were doing in 1954 But if you want to actually use the car rather than enter it into the kind of concours competitions where these would be marked down, I would urge you to consider a wiring layout that affords a little more protection in the form of fuses (AIUI the early cars only had one or perhaps two main fuses) and a pair of relays for the lights so you can run decent headlights without frying the switchgear. I'm sure you could arrange it so that such items were discreetly mounted to avoid the attentions of the originality Police

I am with Tim here , the original wiring loom used by MMC was OK in its day , but woefully inadequate by today's standards.
You should have a fuse for each major circuit, and a relay for the higher powered ones. Also if you are going to use an electric fan , or fuel pump then these also need fusing correctly.

I agree Tim to a certain extent but I have run my 1956 Land Rover which I re-wired with a new Autosparks loom over 20 years ago and subsequently fitted with a discreet electronic ignition with no problems whatsoever even with the small number of fuses, it is a very simple system and seems to work very well. My Morgan is also very simple and I will be using an Autosparks loom on that eventually and also with electronic ignition.

Thanks for the input. I strongly believe in a car that is a driver not a 'trailer queen'. I will probably go with the 55 wiring and a fuse box. Try to make is look as original as possible, but I also need a safe reliable car. Still a long slow process of bringing this car back to life.
