Welcome Lola.
You sound like me a year ago when I was considering buying a car but then found all the tales of woe on here from owners of pre 2014 cars. I have every sympathy with peoples problems with the early cars but reading reports of unreliable cars certainly puts into doubt the decision to buy or not.
The post title is a bit unfair to the current M3W and anyone considering buying one might be alarmed.
I think the title of this post should be renamed?
Perhaps it should read:-
'Trouble Free Cars. Do any makes exist?'
Some makes are better than others but even the likes of Toyotas or VWs have problems.
The M3W is a specialist/unconventional car and one cannot expect to do the same mileage as your average Vauxhall Van without things going wrong/needing replacing/adjusting.
It also depends on how one drives it!
The 2014 models onwards should be reliable if driven sensibly. I have my doubts if constantly driven hard.
I am in contact with several people with 2015 models and touchwood none have had any problems other than the usual new car teething/bedding in things that one gets with any make.
Some TM members live many hours away from the nearest dealer to get their cars serviced but have still bought into one of the most exciting and fun vehicles on the market.
Buying a current model with all the revision's and living near to Malvern should make the decision of buying a M3W a no brainer.
I agree. It's a bit like when you have back ache and you go onto a back ache forum. Not mean people go on that to say they have a pain free back!

My nearest dealer is 2+ hrs away.
I think it reasonable to expect reasonable reliability. I also think the ability to be reasonable is an essential part of ownership. Your last sentence grips me as one who has the former, yet has a ways to go on the latter.
Unless you can embrace the experience with a set of expectations based on the qualities of the machine itself instead of your own tolerance for imperfection, maybe you'd be better served with another choice.

I have no back ache but a M3W - therefore on Talk Morgan Forum. My 6/2013 M3W has experienced nearly all the troubles described in the forum. My glass is still half full as the frame did not brake yet and the engine is still running with the new cambelt. The M3W is close to a Lada Niva: As soon as all the parts have been replaced once or twice both cars work fine...

Well, I'm just in after a 200 mile day in the pouring rain & it's been a diamond! Five & a half thousand miles and it's running like a train..

My December 2012 M3W has held up fine, never left me stranded and not needed anything besides bobbins and the normal (for a M3W) ware and tare type items and I am just over 6000 miles now.
Although it is going in next week for a new compensator and a few upgrades.

BTW: anyone else owning a M3W with more than 20.000km on the clock? (i.e. some 12.500miles) Had some fun driving it yesterday and will use it again today if the fog finally lifts.

I agree with the members saying that an handcrafted car cannot be as reliable and well-developed as a standard mass-production vehicle. However, when the faults involve parts that are critical for safety such as the wishbones or the chassis, the manufacturer should be obliged to modify the vehicles at no cost for the owners: this is not the case of MCC, who has been adamant on many issues and charged customers for upgrades. I wonder what will happen if one of us will have an accident caused by these faults and will sue MCC for this.... Our American members have for sure a good idea of the possible consequences of such a lawsuit....
