Not there Graham - but not far off. Only doing 30 and a light went red. Barely stopped in time. Took it very steady home. It was already booked in for its service and plating. John, the nice man from our local HGV service place, rang and said "no wonder you had a problem, the front brakes had completely failed". We were very lucky. Soon afterwards we bought the first Disco and a trailer and sold the lorry. At least Jan can drive the car - she was not strong enough to get the lorry into gear and she really struggled with air brakes. A Disco and trailer is a lot easier to drive - and considerably cheaper to run.

With boats that are raw water (sea water) cooled it's standard practice to run the engine on land using a bucket filled with anti-freeze to protect engine. Typically the intake hose is removed from the water pump and replaced with one fed by the bucket. This isn't done for boats that have a closed loop cooling system.

So I'll winterise the boat and keep the Morgan in commission.

Thanks for all the advice.
