I had an alternative thought. Nasty.
Yes it lowers the average Co2 output of the range to allow them to continue in the US. However it also gives them a cheap fleet of loan cars for the dealers !
Imagine putting your 87 Vantage, Virage V600 or DB9 convertible in for service and being told "we have an Aston loan car waiting for you around the corner sir" then seeing this.
Well I figure Maserati sales would increase if nothing else.
Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

I'm sure that will be the case too.
However, Ferrari already do Fiat 500 loan cars with Ferrari badges for their customers who are putting their car in for service. Or at least they were supposed to.
The dealers sold them all as soon as they came through! Perhaps this is where it's coming from.
I certainly didn't get a Maserati loan car from Maranellos when mine was in for service. I did get an S class 320D, which was rather nice...

Not very clever of Maranellos. Over here they give you the best car they have and hope that you come back and want to buy it.
Small luxury cars: I had a VandenPlas Princess 1100 (Austin) in the late sixties and would be more than happy to have the same car with the newest mechanicals today for driving around in our overcrowded cities.

Frank I saw a BRG one in Victoria Road London recently. I looked in very good condition and still had that distinctive 1100 purr as it pulled away.

You'll have to stump up for a new DBS, DB9 or AMV8 by all accounts... unless you want to buy the  ...
