I thought the original had three wheels ? they did, they were rubbish as well, as are the 4 wheelers, to which I was referring in my rant. Once again……..It's a Morgan

A morgan is a throwback to another era of motoring, it really shouldn't have survived this long. It is rubbish, it really is.....
I disagree.. Yes it's a throwback but I wouldn't say it's rubbish! Compared to vehicles similarly built (and yes to have to go back in time to do the comparison) I'd say it's well built and well finished, in fact better built than any of the 'coach built' cars I've owned. But I do agree it's a Morgan, quirky, distinctive and as you say great fun to drive. There is a difference I believe in tweaking (reaction bars) and what has to be major rework such as 5 link suspension mods that will change the whole character of the car.

Adrian. Thanks for your report. Regarding the ride I did wonder about the damper settings. I know the Williams car has the adjustable Quantums and I did wonder if the damping may have been set a bit hard. I believe that the kit will be available with either non adjustable Bilsteins or adjustable Quantams. There is a difference I believe in tweaking (reaction bars) and what has to be major rework such as 5 link suspension mods that will change the whole character of the car. Steve. I agree that it is an expensive option and a fair bit of work to install but I do think that to say it would change the whole character of the car is a touch exagerated. Lets face it, most people when they first think of buying a Morgan are attracted to the style. At least I was. Being somewhat mechanically minded I did know what was underneath, but most don't know and don't care. When people look at a Morgan it is because they want the classic style of a vintage sports car with modern mechanicals. In my opininon if Morgan had fitted double wishbone front suspension and coils at the rear 30 years ago there would have been 10 minutes of fuss from the old school diehards and everyone would now be complaining about some other develoment such as all round discs, fully independent suspension, air bags, radio, aircon etc. Oh! That's what the Aero and Plus 8 have.

Hi Guys, I have done over 2000 miles in my 3.7 Roadster fitted with the 5link kit.My comments come from drving my car with standard suspension front and rearthen with the front RS kit front with leaf rear and now finally with the 5link rear which incidentally was fitted and set up by the manufacturers of the kit for Suplex who also had a major input into the design doing all the cad drawings etc.Maybe this has some bearing on the fact that not only does my car handle like a dream because I have balanced the corner weights and set the dampers to my and Mrs G liking it is ver very comfortable as well. I now describe my Morgan as fabulous it does everything so well. With due repect to Adrian and all concerned at Williams maybe some base setting is needed to get the sort of suspension performance that I am getting. Regards David

It's a Morgan
Once again, It's a Morgan.
If the front suspension set up was great other manufacturers would be using it, likewise for leaf springs on the rear.
If folks want to tinker with, and "improve" their cars then great, it's a free country, crack on.
BUT………
If you want something that handles like it's on rails, buy a boxster/cayman/elise/mx2 or one of any number of other modern cars.
A 5 link rear may be an improvement but it's getting further away from the original.
The Mona Lisa would probably be better with eye brows but it just works as it is.
A morgan is a throwback to another era of motoring, it really shouldn't have survived this long. It is rubbish, it really is, bloody expensive and rubbish.
BUT……….. Great fun
Think why you bought one………….
IT'S A MORGAN!!!!!!!!!!!!! DRIVE IT!!!!!!!!!!! ENJOY IT!!!!!!!!!!!! Individuals buy Mogs for different reasons , they don't necessarily stick with the whole package , that's part of the enjoyment of tinkering with their Mog , you can't tinker with a Porker or many other cars , this is reflected in what T'mers have and are doing which is a great scource of excitement to us all , every Mog is different !

Peter, you are probably right. I guess it's a case of each to his own and I wouldn't knock anyone from doing it. But for me it would be a solution that's looking for a problem. And that for me at least doesn't exist but then I drive like an old *art!

Ok….. I take back rubbish.
outdated, made of average quality components, lacking sufficient development and haphazardly built……… but not rubbish.
I wasn't saying don't tinker, if you feel the urge, tinker. Develop, modify, improve, what ever you want to do, do it…..but how far from standard do you go and it still capture the spirit of the original.
it's cramped, uncomfortable and it leaks!!!!!!
It's a Morgan
FANTASTIC!!!!!!!

The woodwork, the Aluminium panelling, is craftsmanship at its best. No doubt about that. And the trimming. All of that is superb skill. Sometimes the rest lets it down. But we tolerate it, we complain, and the love affair continues.
