I been just informed that one other Empire kit broke.
So far I know this is the third kit which broke down.
Again with no serious accident but I have seen pictures and to me there is only one conclusion : This can kill you !
Will update more later.

In what way has it failed, the track rod end risers? If this is the case I would say that the "Comfort Kit" style modification for the track rod ends is the safe way to go. Lucky for me my car now has the latest front hubs with the raised steering arms and the Empire top wishbones.

I had a Empire failure where a bolt broke off where the steering rack end meets the turning part of the suspension.
the bolt did not fit flush.
it was an installation problem where the Empire part needed to be slimmer to fit flush on top the steering arm.
All good now.

Correct ..... riser broke off again. And this time they where fitted correctly ! Try to post pictures later.

This news has been passed on to Bill at Empire, at the moment, I understand, he is trying to find out what has caused this to happen.
He has had these risers tested previously, and tells me they have resisted a lateral force of 3 tons and as this amount of leverage is unlikely in the Three Wheeler, he cannot understand why any should break. The design is a standard industry practice and has been around for years, and as long as the taper is fully fitted into the steering arm and the shoulder is in contact with the base, with the nut tight, and checked periodically, it should be fine.
However, if anyone has any doubts whatsoever about their risers, please take them off and re-fit the original track rod ends, until a solution is found.
In the meantime, I would be grateful if everone using the original risers would please pm me so we can stay in contact.

Is it common to have a taper fit bolt tightening down a shouldered fitting? Seems like the two would interfere with each other. Was it hand torqued or assembled with a powered impact tool? If it pulled in tight to the taper, then any clearance remaining between the shoulder and steering arm would stress the bolt right where it looks like the failure occurred, wouldn't it?
