I thought i would open up this thread again. Are people able to update on their experiences of acceptable or proven bevel box oil brands and specifications. It would be helpful to know your local climate as well.

I have been using Red Line Heavy Shockproof Gear Oil 75W-140 this year, filled to the orange breather, it did seem to make the bevel box quieter. Most of my driving around southern UK. A trip into Europe when it was 32C did seem to create more noise from the bevel box though.

Red Line does quiet the unit down some! its so thick and rich!

Great product and it starts out reddish so you can tell when its dirty by the color change to dark brown.

I change the Bevel box oil every 100 miles till it started staying red in color. it took a long time to get out all the old grime from the original factory oil.

When I did open up the bevel box for the first time....
there was very like oil in the box, just sludge dripped out of the plug hole. The factory did a poor job in letting us know to change out this fluid quickly once owning your machine. I thought I would have to replace the bevel box but Red Line has proven its still will work OK.

Dealer changed the BB oil at last service using Morris Lodexol XFS 80w/140 a fully synthetic LSD oil. I specifically asked about level & they fill to the plug above the drain not to the orange breather. They said filling to breather can cause frothing. Since the BB seems to be custom made for MMC why would they fit a plug above the drain if it was not going to be used?
When I flushed my BB I used Lodexol filling to the plug.

I fill the oil thru the orange breather, the level isnt much more than the fill plug above the drain plug. I see it as even if The amount of the oil is more, no worries it will go out thru the breather, but it hasnt...too light oil will heat up the gears
