Went to NEC Classic Car Show today, really good to meet Madmax and have a good chat, spent quite a few bob on bits for the 3 wheeler and had a severe knock back when I tried to buy a Velocette 500 by SWMBO.
Mind you I'm still working my charm so all is not quite lost!

I would agree the NEC is taking the p**s with the car park charge and then suffered a 3.75hr trip back on the M6.
If Friday is the quiet day I dread to think what it's like on a Sat or Sun.

I went today also, fantastic show with so much to see. We parked in the railway station, £9.0, no queues and a covered walkway to the show entrance.

Judging by the expected classic car prices on sale, morgans are very cheap in comparison.

Decided not to go this year....last minute decision. Car parking is a farce and last year found the number of cars in show just too much to take in....never mind the crowds.

Certainly too many cars to take it all in, but that's all part of the attraction to me, and the show was even bigger this year I think. I always park in the railway station, both cheaper and more convenient. Well worth the extra couple of quid to go on Friday, the crowds are significantly lighter.

Much easier to move around with Friday's crowds yesterday, and as it's only five stops up the London Midland line from here it was a painless decision. The only irony of my luck is that on Thursday I was in the right place for once, and offered an unwanted exhibitors wristband for Friday, 24hrs after buying my ticket..

A good show, and so much crammed in there! Two halls full of restoration paraphernalia and autojumble stuff, along with half a hall of classic two wheelers & a Wall of Death leaving four more halls devoted to anything & everything classic on four wheels meant some sore feet by teatime, but a very inspirational show.

Bumped into PJB and had a nice chat, plus some friends on the MTWC stand, but why were the MSCC people all wearing blue hi-viz reflective jackets..?

My eldest (and Stringer's real owner..) came along, and we had a great father & son day, plotting & planning the next 'project' dream. He's just sold his daily driver Z3 and been hit with some massive depreciation...of £50 a year...and he moaned!! He had a bash at sprinting his Midget last year, but wants a larger car that's Ford based especially if it involves anything historic. Much dreaming to do now..

If on my own I would go on the Friday. Going to today with family. Taking the train for a change.

Nice Sunday at the NEC - highlights for me - that stunning Ferrari Line up - La Ferrari is Automotive art, flat nose Porsche, TVR Sagaris with that fantastic paint job (the type that changes colour) and the lovelly silver DB5.

Nice to see morgans again but Would have liked to have seen an Aero on the MSCC area.

Thinking about it, I cant understand why MMC, perhaps with one or more of the dealers don't get involved- maybe with the new Aero and a selection of other new models on display like Geneva or the national event.

Tens of thousands of people at the NEC must be slap bang in the middle of MMC's marketing demographic - Morgans are a contemporary classic after all.

Some of the smaller specialist makers such as Suffolk are there and it would be a shop window for many who would like a classic car without the hassle(hopefully) of old car problems.

MMC marketing are missing a trick in my view - or am I wrong?

I dont normally like to criticise the efforts of volunteers but i agree with your thoughts totally. I thought the morgan stand was only appealing to club members. Nothing new was on display. I personally found the three wheeler display more interesting.

Manufacturers are not allowed to participate in the Classic Car show. That is the NEC rule. It's clubs only but with the very small producers there's a grey area.

There were two or three small producers there, I looked at one based on the MX5.

From Morgan's point of view I would go for product placement without the full sales bit. Let the club do the descriptive bit in a low key way. No harm in trying.
