Andrew and Em - sorry, missed your replies as I was trying to read them on my 'phone on the train! crazy2

Em - can you remember the type/number for the replacement filter pls.? cheers

Like you say, I'm guessing it is nothing too unusual it is just that I would like to have one 'on hand' as I'm guessing the garage won't want my car, sans wings, cluttering the workshop for days !

AndrewR - have pm'd you re my email ;thanks! thumbs

Lightsphere - good point re. the wheels but the garage has already had them on/off before for a brake upgrade.

Peter - thanks for the picture;as they say, it speaks a thousand words and has helped me visualise what may lay beneath...! confused2

Many thanks to all again, James cheers

James.Sorry i havent the filter numbers, i supplied all the oils and fluids when we did the big service so as soon as the wing came off the mechanic i was helping rang the factors and it arrived about half an hour later so must be quite common.Because the aero builds up so much heat i stuck a couple of bottles of that water wetter in,dont know really if it works but my fan never seems to come on.To do the big service it took us us all day but at least i know the jobs been done properly. The twins must be reunited at some point
in the future.

- thanks Em , that is useful info.

Did you have/have you got a service schedule the you followed or was it just a generic 'oil/filter and check everything' service you did?

As you say,the twins must be brought together again (I think mine is pining.... laugh ).My 'V8" badge has never looked as well again since you polished it at TOTH thumbs

James,
Brian Gateson at Techniques tells me that the plugs only need changing at 50000 miles intervals?

The 2008 Aero Service Sheet says 60,000 miles or 5 years. This ties in with BMW's instruction of 100,000km, or 5 years.
I don't quite understand how plugs can age over time, but I guess BMW knows best!

Its worth a check every couple of years Peter,Duratec owners will have one hell of a shock if they wash their cars regularly or drive them in the rain my plugs were like four lumps of rust and corrosion after a year. The water goes straight through the louvres and down the plug holes, their a bit of a bugger to get at but at least we wont get water going in on the V8.
