A flat bottomed steering wheel...even on an Audi...makes as much fashion sense as wearing suspenders with a belt, so there's absolutely no way one of those will ever grace any of my cars, and most especially a 3. Please tell me my time here hasn't resulted in my being perceived as a total dork.
As I said originally, I personally like the 15" wheel and wanted to know if anyone had experience with one in a 3 and if they found the thigh clearance OK, and what I'm hearing is that it should be OK..right?
With a 14 inch wheel, you can use the tonnuae cover with the wheel in place, with a 15 inch wheel, you must remove to use the tonnuae cover (when parked of course).
I Hadn't considered the tonneau issue...it's that tight that it won't fit a 15"?
I'm probably over thinking this, but the standard wheel just didn't work for me, not only was it just too dark, but too thick and too small. I know it's personal taste, but 13" wouldn't work for me at all.
I saw a 4/4 at the dealer with the four spoke Moto, 14", and it looked too small to my eye. This is unusual for me, b/c typically I like a smaller wheel, I actually went thru the considerable job of installing a 14" Nardi on my Alfa this past summer, down from the std. 15", and it looks much better with a smaller wheel.
But if the 15" will scrape my lap whilst driving, that would be a deal breaker. The tonneau fit, maybe not.
I'm about 5'10" and weigh about 170 lbs. l currently use a dished 15 inch dished wheel and the only issue is having to pull the wheel when I put on the tonneau. Having said that, I just found a Brooklands type 14 inch wheel with three spokes instead of four that I am going to try.
