I've ordered the photo build book to accompany my new M3W (build date is approx. 12/7...last of the 2015s). Just finished reading Peter Dron's book and he says most people were disappointed with the book. I read it to mean that most, if not all, photos were stock shots, and very few shots were of the actual car. He eve suggested bugging the dealer or the factory when build time comes to maybe get them to actually get some shots of the specific car "in color".

Love to hear anybody's experience and thoughts about this.

Hi Ken,

I've also read that the build book used stock photos, but I ordered it anyway. When I got the book I was please to see all colors where correct... White body, red quilted interior, red matching wheels and the graphics. I've no idea if it's really my car but it sure does look like it. I suspect that if you use the most popular configurations and colors then stock photos maybe applicable. In my case it appears legit.

I ordered the build book and my car was built late June. I haven't received it yet. I have a few build photo's of my car anyway so I'm not expecting too much but it's nice to have it as part of the experience. Meantime I'm loving my M3W more and more

A bit pricey, but for a once in a lifetime purchase, a nice bit of provenance. Hard to tell if the beginning photos are stock or not. By time the interior and body added, everything matches.
I say go for it !

thumbs cheers

Thanks guys...sounds like the books ARE legit! Can't wait to get my car. In the meantime I have my R9T for nice days. They shut the factory on 12/18 for the holiday, so Mark Cerrone, line manage, told me my car will be completed before that date. Mt dealer says I should have her by 1/10. My dealer is an hour away (Lewisbury, PA) and they'll deliver it if the weather is bad. If not...HEATED SEATS and Gerbings!

I ordered and received a build book with my new plus 8. I think it represented good value when compared to how easy it is to spend the equivalent of money elsewhere and I was very pleased with end product. Because I made 4 factory visits during the build, I recognise the photos as my car.

The book seemed to be accurate. The colors were correct and the last picture was my car ready to ship. The sticker on the car was my VIN and that seems like a lot of effort to fake.
