After 5 years morganeering (2009 +4 Anniversary), I could't see more the ugly standard steering column cover, covering almost the whole nice Moto-Lita boss. After shortening the original cover, the space between the boss and the cover must be closed. Originally I wanted to make the cover of a stainless steel sheet, however, this is difficult to cut. After a longer inspection of materials rests in the workshop, I found an old plate used for electronic schemes (semiconductor board?), which has one side covered by copper. This material is easy to process and can be very good glued with superglue, direct on the narrow cut of the shortened basis cover. I leveled the cut plane on a glass-plate covered with sandpaper. The amount to shorten the original cover should enable to position the new made cover at the middle of the first boss indentation. Then, the hole diameter can be cut just 2-3 millimeters larger then the indentation diameter giving tight fit between the boss and the cover. So, practically zero costs, just the cutting and adjusting exact shape takes time and requires patience, exact measuring and working. The original plan was to cover the whole piece with leather or spray the new part black. Then I tried to polish the copper – it looks not bad and the polished copper harmonizes well with the surrounding.
