Looking over the M3W price list on the Morgan site, I see there is an extra charge of 495.83 for Black Exhaust, 208.33 for Black Heat Shield, and 835.00 for painted wheels (presumably just the front two?). What type of finish is used on these items for the Base Model, or are they left unfinished/unpainted?

Stock exhaust is stainless. Heat-shield starts as stainless and they powder-coat it black. Front wheels start as basic black.
The base model has black rollover hoops. They start life as stainless and then are powder-coated black.
Having black exhaust is a decent idea. They will start bluing almost immediately and eventually hit black and cruddy. I've started wrapping the pipes with white fiber glass. Cheap, replaceable and looks slick.
What's your mileage? Who cares. Is it practical? See #1. What happens when it rains? You get wet.

When I had a Three Wheeler I took my stainless steel exhaust guards to a local powder coating outfit, who did them for £10 [$15] each, a bit cheaper than the factory item, but then again, the factory need all the money they can make.

Call me old fashioned here, but you'd think MMC would double pipe the front section of the exhaust...or powder coat them..to avoid the bluing, yes? Such easy and obvious solutions. Or at the very least, offer these as extra cost options.
The side pipes do not blue and look dandy in chrome, it's only the front section, and the idea of sacrificing the chrome side pieces to spare the front pieces doesn't sound like a good trade, at least with the dark body colours where the chrome really stands out.

My car is Audi Sepang blue, the stainless ft pipes and chrome guard etc look great with it being a darker colour. The factory price for the silver wheels (not chrome) at £800 odd plus v.a.t. is ludicrous. It would be cheaper to buy direct from AVS and throw the black ones away.

It's black heat resistant paint not powder coating - don't rub it too hard
