I know a few of the forum members have seen this but I thought it may be of interest to others.
I used the largest available (at the time) GIVI top box which clips onto it's own special mounting bracket that I have fixed to my carrier with some home made clamps.

The top box clips into position and can only be removed by means of a key.

The box itself is also lockable (with the same key) and is totally waterproof. It has a capacity of 55 litres and can hold 2 full face helmets.
The box also has the facility of built-in red LED lights facing towards the rear (which I have yet to wire up) and this will provide an excellent high level stop light.

The box can also be used as a suitcase and easily removed from the car and taken with you if required.

Pleas note that I have no financial or commercial connection with GIVI

That looks like an excellent solution :-)

Keith that sure looks good but I don't suppose it comes cheap. Any downside like extra noise or buffeting on back of your head? Does the rack have to be removed to get in the boot?

Hi Tim

With regard to buffeting/noise etc., I can't say that I notice any difference with or without the box in position.

With regard to boot access, yes it does have to be removed but this is the standard M3W rack from MMC and no different in that the rack with or without the box in place, always has to be removed to get in the boot.

I didn't notice the luggage rack on the factory options list, I'm afraid to ask it's price. Is it available in Stainless, Chrome, or painted?

I think they drill the roll hoops to fit the front brackets. Someone on TM posted an alternative clamp arrangement, perhaps 2 years ago.

Was thinking about this for long trips... bikers have similar space and weather challenges.
1. Add a mounting plate to a luggage rack e.g. https://www.amazon.co.uk/E251-Givi-Universal-Monokey-Plate/dp/B00FYOQB5A
2. Add box of your choice e.g. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Givi-OBK58A-Aluminium-Top-Case-Trekker-Outback/dp/B00L81XHF0

Concerns would be
A. Weight!
B. Bike boxes are not designed for lateral loads...
