Recycled the living room carpet ,then put down the interlocking rubber tiles that were bought for the caravan awning . To finish of an old car mat for each wheel ,The desiccant dehumidifier is now on .Also lined the metal garage doors using no nails and carpet underlay . If I could get her into the house I would .

Despite his supposed lowly status; Stanley resides on a white ceramic tiled showroom floor! toff

Ps. Not the most practical, but looks great and make the garage very bright. I have a couple of old carpet rugs to lie on, if required.

I bought the end roll of Cushionfloor from a local carpet retailer.

It covers the entire floor and looks really good (IMO) is proof against most chemicals etc I use/ have ...and joy ..cost £60.

Result!

Have just ordered 'Mototiles' for my garage in preparation for the Mog. I will report back when fitted.

Have used 2 part epoxy paint in one garage and that has been superb, but a real pain to apply correctly and has to be done when temperature is above 15 degrees (from memory).

Conventional garage floor paint in other garage has been useless despite careful preparation.

Thanks everyone,

I've tried the floor paint and it hasn't lasted so it's time for a change.

I was planning on mototiles but have read about lifting issues and problems caused by open garage doors and sunlight bowing the tiles. The garage when finished will have a set of bifolds and a reasonable amount of glass so this is another problem and then finally one of the forums suggested you needed a 40mm gap on all sides for the areas I'm looking at covering. So all in all they have lost so of the original appeal they had.

I'm over at the NEC on Sunday so I'll ask all the questions directly of Mototiles.

I'm waiting on some prices for resin and tiled floors and I'll make a decision then but I was interested in everyone else's experience.

Has anyone ever considered Astro turf thinking it'll make the garage blend into the garden then.

I've had plastic interlocking floor tiles for around 8 years.
Managed to find via the Internet a manufacturer with surplus ex exhibition to clear at a knock down price, they just had enough grey and green to cover my double garage.
Worth contacting a few they may have similar available providing you are not fussy about the colours,

Successful floor painting really does depend on the state of the floor. My number 1 garage which dates from 1975 has a slight dampness to the concrete floor.
Over a long time this was given three coats of proper paint - beige, then grey, then brick red. It has always been patchy and the tyres used to lift it. This is why I fitted carpet tiles and this holds back the slight dampness, because they have rubberised backs.
In my number 2 garage which dates from 1988, I laid a Visqueen membrane under the concrete, so there is no damp whatsoever. Once the concrete had cured, I gave it a couple of coates of brick red floor paint, and the whole thing still looks like new, but is covered with carpet tiles.
Here it is in 2012, just relaid and brand new.
