Hi I found same oil unter the S&S engine. My car has 600 miles on the clock. I think it comes from the area around the crankshaft. But I am not sure. Has anyone else found engine oil in this area ?
It looks like the crankshaft oil seal has failed. At 600 miles and still under warranty it should be a job for the dealer to sort. You could request that they fit the updated crankshaft drive gear bolt at the same time, to prevent it making an unplanned exit through the cover. The other debris under the cover is just the belt "snake skin" and is normal according to S&S.
I had the crankshaft seal changed under warranty and now it doesn't leak (as much)! I was told by a S&S mechanic that the engine is "sensitive" to the oil level. Too much oil and and some will get pressed out through the seals. Does someone know if that's the case?
I wouldn't think that the oil level in the tank would have much effect on the amount of oil in the crankcase of a dry sump engine. If it is being correctly scavenged back to the tank there should be very little oil in the crankcase.
Before mine had a 'stand off' timing cover like yours , even from new t used to trap a very small amount of oil inside , just a couple of drips really never any more. Now with the new cover I guess it just escapes and I am non the wiser. Level in the oil tank never varies.

Yes in a regular dry sump engine the crank case runs at a depression, so not only is there very little oil but the seal is stopping higher pressure air from the outside being pulled in. Only when the engine is stopped (or has a serious issue) do the seals stop oil wanting to get out. Also when the engine is off you can (on some designs) drain past the oil pump gears and fill the sump. Therefore it wouldn't be a surprise to see a little weep only when left standing.

I suffered four engine oil seal leaks before Williams discovered that the throttle body was ill fitted via cross threaded bolt. One of the two engine breathers uses the throttle body, and this one is very sensitive to twisting according to S&S.
The fitment of a new body has straightened the breather out & I've had no issues at all for the last two thousand miles..
