Steve, you are to be applauded for this initiative, there are scare mongers out there who would have you believe that a 'Waiver' is required for organised runs and the definition of organised seems very slack? I tried to organise a run some years ago to Beaulieu on Mogtalk and was telephoned by the then chair of MSCC and advised I needed said Waiver. I contacted MSA and they fell about laughing, thought I was joking and said surely the person who advised you is aware that the waivers are only available to registered clubs and not individuals. The whole thing stank of politics and control....of course it was only a coincidence that MSCC had one of their runs to the same place a week before my date, the fact they were charging a hefty fee to attend had nothing to do with it of course! The matter was resolved when several of us happened, purely by coincidence, to meet up at a motorway services, we have continued to have these coincidental meetings ever since.

All power to your elbow, I am only sorry I had to cry off last Sunday. My view is that it should be as loose as possible, a calendar of dates and venues would be really useful and I know a list of those likely to attend is helpful and often unlocks doors to access special parking and entrance fees. Maybe it's possible to look at listing dates and approx area's of meetings and specific details closer to the time, I always think these things are more about the people and don't really mind what the event is based around, coffee and a natter being the driver, pies are very welcome also ;-).

Another vote for loose and easy. Easiest is, if you are going out for a run somewhere, just post it on the forum and see who turns up. I'm planning a run over to Chipping Norton one evening next summer to have a bag of fish and chips and a stroll around before returning home. Was planning on posting it on the forum a week or so beforehand to see if anyone else was interested. That sort of thing.

The TM forum is a fabulous place to generate events - Three wheelers use it to do just that. It certainly compliments the MSCC and provides update capability to generate interest and event focus.

Facebook is another means to do that - Talk Morgan could have a page there too!

Agree with the informal approach.

For instance I am arranging the Coombe Mill run in July.

What might be an idea though is to put down an outline plan of what might happen during the year.

For instance the 10th Anniversary Celebration " Event" for TM.

A meet up point at TOTH/ Chateau Impney.

We probably need no more than six Events throughout the year?

Whatever we all agree or is the concensus ...count me in!

Its a long way for an up North or Jocks to come South . How about a bit more North I have 3 runs in the Lakes not bad for a w/end .
If I had come the other day it would have been up at 5am and over 3 hours foot down, the same on return .

1/. The Wild West, A tour of the more remote , quiet, part of the lake district , where fewer tourists visit. Total mileage 93.

2/. Peerless Panoramas. A carefully constructed tour which visits some of the finest panoramic views in the region , with dramatic changes of landscape. Total mileage 50.9.


3/. Ten Passes . This offers some sporting driving . Total mileage 115.


I forgot there are several motor museums( 3? )in the lakes .

After our epic Sausage Roll Adventure to Haynes Museum, I like the idea of informal meets, organised locally.

The natural annual meet would seem to be (IMHO) Thrill on the Hill, which has all the advantages of not being an MSCC event.

Sorry I couldn't make Gaydon (reason being too boring) looks like you all had great time.

Agree about keeping it informal - no committees please ! People will go to proposed events if they can , if they can't then its no problem as long as we don't have to start booking tickets ahead too far which can run into weather problems etc.

I am definitely up for it.
Some really great ideas already suggested by Roadster Boy and Jack the Lad.
