Talk Morgan Forums Community The Malvern Arms TM 'ers Meets and Events for 2016!!

Hi All,

Given the positive response and subsequent turn out for our recent Gaydon event, it is clear that there is a real appetite amongst TM’ers for physical ‘get togethers’ to complement the virtual world of this forum. My simple request for likeminded enthusiasts to join in a run resulted in over 40 yes please’s!

For me and perhaps others, this kind of event is exactly that I had hoped to find under membership of MSCC but sadly it doesn’t seem to be the case.

So it would seem that if we want to do this again or something similar in the future, we need to organise ourselves.

The question is.. how formalised do we want to make it? On the one hand it is relatively simple for me to post a ‘who wants to come to…’ type question on the forum. It would be quite another thing to arrange a whole events calendar for 2016, with potential for weekend’s away, competitive events, tour of Wales?, representation at TOTH, shows etc etc. Such things will require allocated responsibilities, administration, funding, etc. In fact all the things required of running a ‘club’.

You could easily see this becoming a viable alternative to MSCC and ‘affiliated’ to TM.

I’d be happy to carry on as we are and occasionally suggest a day out or equally happy to get more involved. Do we do more?

I would suggest, sticking with organisaing events, maybe 4 times a year.

Running a club becomes a full time occupation, with all the political overtones attached.

Couldn't agree more, the informal "tight loose" nature of TM is its greatest attraction.

I say keep it simple and spread the load. Keep the organisation similar to gaydon and to speard the load for example, Adrian and I could organise something in the south west. Others could do similar.

Give it time, it may well grow of it's own accord.

By this time next year the momentum may well dictate where we go with it.

Understand the appeal of 'tight loose' but it does limit the possibilities a bit. Even a weekend event would require some planning and admin that goes beyond an ad hoc 'fancy a run next week' approach.

Still, majority rules so lets see...

Keep' em informal and ad-hoc.

Agree with what's been said before, more than happy to help out for events down our way. I thought it might be nice to do something that we would enjoy but also might raise some money for a charity(s). Could be a fun run hill climb or possibly a track day, I have contacts in a few local clubs that also might support. I am thinking of the example of the Marcos club that organise the Prescott fun run. What do others think?

Just a vote for say a quarterly TM meet - just like Gaydon - in Winter and Summer!

There are lots of possible venues that people living locally might suggest.

Gaydon was a great combination of the drive there, some old friends and new ones, and a super venue before the drive home.

Keep it simple. Then it remains ad-hoc, and minimises commitment.

Becoming "A Club" won't make it better.
