I want to modify my Mota Lita Boss cover.

Its a lovely section of Ali - but shrouded in the pretty grim Factory Plastic cover. So need to cut this back to show it off.

I know Allon White make a replacement - but they are £200 ..eeeek!

Is there a workshop fix?

What do I need to watch out for?

Any advice most welcome...or its out with the cheque book scared

Hello Neil,
I know what you mean, I'm pretty sure that Dave W came up with a neat solution involving a different plastic shroud which he then covered.
As I am nowhere as good as Mr Neoprene, I gave in and went for the factory option also did the door locks as well, they really look good. IMHO, it's these little things that really do make the car (perhaps they should be standard )

Interesting.

What is the factory option?

My local saddler is a very handy chap - and interested in my Mog.

So he could maybe cover a shorter version....if its available.

Williams did a very nice job on covering mine to match the tan hide. The work was carried out prior to me owning the car so I'm not sure on the cost. Certainly looks very nice and not at all like an add-on.

You've also got the Wiiliams Motolita boss as well, which sits closer to column shroud and hides the nasty gap!

Neil.....I might have a spare shroud off my Roadster lurking somewhere in the garage if you want one to play about with.

Such a lovely clean colour: I once owned a black MG Midget with tan interior and so wanted it to be black and was so wrong. Your steering wheel just adds to it. By the way, you seem to be doing 20mph at around 2000 rpm in neutral without moving which is a clever trick and no mistake!

The current column shroud is cheap & nasty but I doubt there's much of an alternative. I covered mine in leather and it turned out OK, but it also needed trimming because it was lopsided.

Some people have added a 'front' and this can look good, but is even more of a fiddle.
