They cannot. The parts are all very expensive - the engine, gearbox and chassis tub are all eye-wateringly costly the way Morgan buys them, then the car is hand built.

A Morgan is what it is, it cannot be compared with any mass produced production line car.

Howard will never quite get your last sentence Peter.

I turned off after about 5 seconds in when Mr Plato pronounced the word 'thing' "thingK"

If he can't speak properly then he's not fit to review a Morgan on TV in my book

I had my suspicions about Mr Plato when he was testing a Porsche Cayman PDK vs a Porsche Cayman Manual. He took a rather childish dislike to the 'push/pull' buttons fitted to the steering wheel of the PDK model and rather childishly criticised and carped on about this all the way through the test claiming he couldn't work out whether to push or pull to change up or down. Although the push/pull steering wheel buttons tend to be disliked in the land of Porsche drivers, I have driven a 911 with them myself and they are really not difficult to use, being one way for up, the other way for down. My point is, that when Mr Plato takes a dislike to something he doesn't let it go. Sadly, I can't take him seriously so when I saw the Morgan Plus 8 review I just assumed something had bugged him and he was having another hissy-fit.

Not sure why we're rehashing a 2 year old discussion on this. Plato was given a bit of a ropey development hack to test. He didn't cut it any slack - maybe as Morgan fans we wish he did, but journalists can only test what you give them. Probably a week later that very car would have been serviced and s few issues ironed out and the review would have been somewhat less painful...

If you want good reviews hand out cars in the best possible shape.

Not complicated. I'd hope the factory are better st this game now than they were in 2013...

Amusing Chris Harris rather loved THAT Plus8 when he drove it from South Wales to Geneva - even with copious amounts of water ingress.

The Plato video feels very objective - the Harris one more subjective. Or in other words Harris appreciates it for what it is rather than trying to measure it against something.

Bizarrely though when I bought the Supersport I was putting it up against the XKR-S. The Morgan had the better boot (how often can that be said); infinitely better handling characteristics and looked like something out of Batman.

Plato is a good driver. But he's also a c0ck.

I know we will all defend Morgans - and particularly if he launches against the model we have... but he's missed the point. The 8 is not comparable with Jags and Astons, never was and never will be. It's like comparing an Alfa 8C against a GT3RS.

A few of us on here have owned Bentleys, Lambos, Astons etc and are perfectly happy with our Morgans. It's a completely different car - that's why we own them.
