Let's face it , since the average age of cars in the UK this year is projected to be 7.8 years a chassis at 25 years old on a Morgan isn't bad.

It wont affect many new owners for sure but with the plus four edging towards 50k Morgan are takeing the P..s.I use my mog 12 months of the year and a galve chasis is a selling point, remember wheeler dealers.

Looking on the bright side it may keep values of the galvanised chassis cars high?
The cars have come on a long way since steel bodies and painted chassis in the 60s and 70s - I once saw a late 70 s car that was one owner and had very low mileage needing extensive restoration.
It put me off buying a non galvanised chassis car and one of the reasons I bought mine new off the dealer.
This new coating is likely to be better than the previous paint and hopefully will not peel off like the stove enamelling on the caterham I used to own.

Could it be that galvenising is getting harder to justify on environmental grounds. No idea just a thought!!!!!!!!!!

Galvanising works very effectively when applied correctly.

The newer coating will need to stand shoulder to shoulder over a period of decades to see if it stands up.

Being Morgan I wonder if a galvanised new Mog would come under the SP category?

Don't forget those that have Galvanised chassis will no longer be able to buy spares of them from the factory any more by the sounds of things?

I get the impression that the accountants and stylist outnumber the engineers these days.

Having had two TVRs with powder coated chassis I would not buy a Morgan that did not have a galvanised chassis. Paint coated chassis get damaged through impact and flexing and then water creeps under and the coating comes off, and the only simple way is to paint with hammerite, if you can get to it. All very unsatisfactory.

If I was going to buy a new trad Mog I think I would stipulate, collecting my chassis before build then getting it galvanised and giving it back to the factory to build the car. If they weren't prepared to let me do that then I would buy something else.

If you are worried just buy a new Morgan every 10 years.
