It's an understandable reaction when things change, but the end of the galvanised chassis isn't in my view sufficient reason to not buy a new Morgan. When I saw the red chassis on the ARP4, I admit to being horrified that it wasn't gavanised and equally horrified that it was red. But this hasn't stopped ARP4.s flying off the shelf. Having seen the chassis up close at the factory, I must admit that they look good. It wasn't apparent on release of the ARP4 that this heralded the end of galvanising. Maybe I missed the announcement, but maybe it was not publicised properly. But then again, most first time buyers of new trads won't have a clue what this means anyway, and it's easy to claim that the new process is as good as galvanising. Will I still be driving a Morgan in twenty years? I hope so but at that point I would be 82 going on 83. If I'm around I doubt I'll be too bothered about chassis degradation. I'll be more bothered about DW degradation.
While ever the factory can sell Trads easily they won't be interested in improving quality of fasteners, mirrors, etc etc. It remains a take it or leave it experience, and that's a shame, but the factory is still a magical place to visit despite this.

Morgan don't want their cars to last forever, how are they going to sell new ones. There has to be product turn over. Same for any manufacturer.
.+8 Now gone for a 1800 4/4. Duratec in bright yellow.

An historic week......the last of the galvanised chassis have left the Chassis Shop! The first autophoretic black chassis are in build. Jeez......all I posted was a bit of innocent information....and now you are all moaning about non stainless fasteners! I think I'll stop posting any more information about what happening at the factory.

Far from it John I shall delight in telling the "wooden chassis" experts yes of course it is and the ash has an autophoretic coating now you know and wait for them to agree ....

Crikey. That lime green one in the background of the ad photo certainly stands out.
