I've got Marchal 810's simply mounted to one of Melvyn's badge bars. No wobble and perfectly secure. And no drilling. They may not be the most efficient lamps but they are not the cheap Wipac tat that is on sale today. (And P Soupers are few and far between, but we do get a bit of early morning fog here by the sea).
Don't spots need to be wired into main beam only? Preventing them staying on when you dip? No real problem as power can be taken off main beam circuit?
I’m new at this forum. Does anyone of you used the spare switch at the dashboard? I have a 1600 sport 2010 By the way I’ve installed the foglights in the valance. Greetings, Ronald
Hi Welcome. I looked into this when I got my car 2011 new. I was told it is possible, but complex as it is really designed for aircon try switching it on then start the blower fan. It will well probably light up. Good luck.
Hello, Phil - clearly remembering our pleasant meeting at Donington some years ago! Hope you are all right. As for lighting - I also considered adding extra lamps, but in my case driving lamps. However, after some self-analysis I discarded the idea. What was I trying to achieve? Good looks - yes, but that would have been quite expensive cosmetics when it includes the badge bar + lamps + clips + relay + fitting. What I really was after was better lighting, and IMO that is better achieved by improving the lights I already have and are used all the time rather than fitting an add-on that is used on-off. So I started with simply fitting relays to the existing headlamps, which gave a significant improvement in light output. DIY job, but fiddly. Next, I changed the OEM lamp units to the Cibie 180 which have far better optics. Sadly, the LDH version is now dicontinued. So that leaves you with either fitting LED bulbs to the existing lamps, but that is not MOT legal as far as I know - or fitting a complete LED unit, as for example Cain at Wolf Performance sells them - most likely combining it with a relay fitted. So I think it boils down to what is the priority, sporty looks or better light output. If the latter is the priority, I think it is better acheived by what I have described above. Hilsen fra Norge! I had to take out LED bulbs when the Uk laws changed. Cars before 1986 can use them , but later cars with the same headlight bowls can't. I was very lucky and got some recycled LED headlights at a very good price from Dan at Krazy Horse. They make a huge difference & I understand Cain's ones do too.

I cannot see any advantage in having additional fog or spot lights for night driving once the main ones have been upgraded to full (legal) LED. I appreciate some are fitted to supplement poor filament lighting or purely cosmetic reasons though.
Daytime running lights and rear fog lights are another matter however. I have both (LED) including twin rear fogs, but in neither case do these require additional fitments.
