When I was at Oakmere Morgan a few weeks ago, Simon mentioned they had commissioned two special Narrow Bodied Plus 4's with a few extras and they were going to make donation to The Royal British Legion

Well I've just noticed that they have arrived in and they are on the website

http://www.morgan-motor.co.uk/dealer/oakmere-morgan/car_locator_details/5784/

What do we think chaps and chappesses ?

( I've no connection to Oakmere - just been a few times to their open days )

Just to open the debate a little further I saw today the Range Rover Evoque Comvertible 'basic' model starts at £47,500 going up to £68,000. Unbelievable! Talk about chalk & cheese.

One passed me on the motorway early this year with black and white camo to disguise it while road testing

I'm not sure what to make of a convertible 4x4 - wouldn't you feel silly?

True

It would be quite handy being higher up and not having a roof pillars to obscure your view of the sheep

In reality I think they're more likely to be moving lamb burgers around Waitrose car parks. wink

Getting back to reality for a while, having looked at the car I think it's riding on a bandwagon & there's something in me that cringes at that. For example, it's not sanctioned by the Legion nor have they offered any input with logo's or verification to go with the 'limited edition' tag that Oakmere add.

The badge on the dash looks very cheap, and could so easily have been a pukka raised profile badge or combined logo affair. Even bronze would have been more welcome, rather than the mock Bakelite (although it's period..!)

I like the colour matched wheels, and the colour I'm sure would look better in the flesh, but beige carpets..? Really..??

And why seventy years..? It could have been any celebration of peace since conflict.

No doubt the RBL will be grateful of any donation from sale, but they've missed an opportunity for an 'official' partnership limited edition, which as a potential owner, makes me feel a bit cheap and not fully with the ethos of the RBL.

Maybe a Legion member would care to comment, but I think someone's thought they'd jump on the emotion and make a buck or two up there, so no. Not for me, thanks.

I must admit to liking the colour and the colour matched wheels against the black

I Don't particularly think the Cuba brown leather trim sits well with all the black bits though but if it's trying to be a bit vintage, I can see why they went with brown

I think this is one of those Plus 4's where you could have just about every factory extra for around £48K as it seems to have got everything

Power steering, air con, heated seats, special paint etc

I bet the list with all the extras must be at least £55K

It could have been the one for me but too many dislikes. Beige carpets for one although I do quite like the interior.

Not for me and as noted above a bit too much of jumping on a bandwagon for my liking.
