I go into the garage every day just to check I've really bought my Mog , she is very special , that's after more than a year !! Hello Hoggy & welcome to TM and Morgan ownership. It is quite normal to sneak off to the garage with a pot of Vaseline (for greasing the bonnet tapes to stop them rattling, of course!) and just look at it and sit in it. You're in the therapy centre now!

Hi welcome from another north east morgan owner,I got mine on 3rd Jan this year,also with 3 month's warranty and got dealer to extend to 5 months or 3000 mls as I would struggle to get out in it .No problems anyway,now over 5000 very happy and enjoyable drives.and mine is 15yrs old 4/4/4seater (very little use but looked after)Enjoy.  Snap Mine is a 2000 4 seater as well

I've just bought a really nice 2010 plus 4 with just short of 7000 miles. (The first Morgan I've owned) Im really happy with the car. It's hard to believe it's 5 years old. I'm afraid I'm at that stage where I keep popping to the garage to take another look and am also monitoring the weather very closely in the hope of a drive day free from salty conditions. Thus far I've done about 100 sunny miles and am addicted. In fact, when I started the Morgan process I didn't anticipate jumping so quickly but I did get completely hooked. I'm normally relatively cautious about cars and spending large chunks of money but on this occasion I pushed a lot of this to one side. Definitely the right move! My wife also loves the car.
I bought the car from a very reputable and established dealer and have no issues. However, since I only have a 3 month warranty, and at this time of year (December) don't anticipate too much driving, wonder if there is anything in particular to keep an eye on within this period. I haven't seen anything of significance thus far. The Talk Morgan site is brilliant and I've already increased my knowledge immensely and had some good entertainment in the process. Any thoughts would be most welcome.
Single most frequent failure of later +4's is the unreliable plastic radiator, either the header tank overflow outlet pipe snaps off or the top hose outlet snaps directly under the hose clip which if over tightened cracks the brittle plastic. ANY coolant seepage is a worrying sign and don't accept KSeal or other leak stop additive, a new radiator is the answer and go for an aluminium one, fixed once and forever!

Hi Hoggy. I'm a new Morgan owner (+4) same as you and have the same symptoms - garage fever; just have to keep going into the garage to take the hood down, put the tonneau cover on, take it off, put the hood up and overall just look at it. Even thought its late in the year I'm going to try to get out as much as possible (salt permitting) to give it a good shake down. Enjoy!

A good few mogs up here and we have Northumberland on our doorstep but dont tell the others.  Thanks Steve, I live in the North East, I know there is a regional Morgan Association (normog) which I hope to get involved with shortly.

Enjoy the car. Get in it regularly and drive it. Don't fret about getting it wet - it won't dissolve.
Four more things to check:
1) Inspect coolant hoses for any rubbing points against fixed parts of the car - bottom hose susceptible on a +4 IIRC - someone with a +4 will correct me on this.
2) Check the fit of the coolant header tank and make sure none of the pipes are trapped against the wiper motor.
3) Check the lamps for water ingress. If you suspect the indicators are wet inside DO NOT turn on the hazard warning lights or you risk damaging the control PCB.
4) Rattles and squeeks - There may be rattles and squeeks. They all do that sir. You can run a trickle of ACF50 down the wing beeding to both reduce squeeks and protect the hidden parts from corrosion.
I hope your dealer showed you exactly how to erect and lower the hood - always remember to undo the tenax fastners on the side before unclipping at the header rail.

Thanks Paul, this looks like very good and experience based advice. Supported by comments from others, the radiator and connected parts are a potential problem area I think.
I can manage the hood now, but only after a fair bit of practice and a mishap in dropping it on the moto lite steering wheel, adding an extra chip, to repair. The hood isn't a perfect fit with a slight slope down to the passenger side on the front rail. Not sure if it's an easy fix or if it could do more damage than good.

Hi fox terrier, I'm glad it's not just me and I'm challenged now to try the tonneau which i need to do asap. Tonight's the night. Tomorrow I will check the radiator and Friday hopefully the real thing if the forecast is accurate...always something to look at I think...just to be sure!
