It does look lovely, but with 2 ferries and a few thousand miles, all that would be left are the memories. I'll have that packet of pork scratchings instead.

Lovely! Is that some sort of machine in the polenta? Or did I start the whisky too early?

Stuffed myself full of cream cakes this afternoon (as did Roadsterboy ) courtesy of Flavings...so feel less guilty now! I'll probably need to go to the gymn to get myself ready for Miss Perry.

Yes it was all delicious thanks. Sorry but there were no leftovers. Lovely! Is that some sort of machine in the polenta? Or did I start the whisky too early? I wondered if anyone would mention that. Yes it is a polenta machine. Probably if you get polenta outside of Italy it is likely to be the instant type. Real polenta takes a long time to cook. In its most simple form it is cooked coarse ground maize, a bit like a porridge made with maize. It takes a long time to cook and must be constantly stired. The traditional method was to cook it in a copper pot hanging over an open fire and stired using a wooden stick. Now you can buy a machine which is a rounded copper pot mounted in a frame which also carries an electric motor that drives a rotating aluminium paddle. It makes life much easier for the cook and her assistants Photo: http://www.italian-cooking-machines.it/paiolo-polenta-5kg-art48.php

Knowing my luck it would re-plaster the walls... Looks a great spread Peter (or should I say Alis? )!
