Great response from MMC today saying they addressed all the component issues with NHTSA two years ago...markings on windscreens, additional brake warning light and some changes to the headlamp set.Seems encouraging...we'll see. My car starts building in three days. You'd have thought this would have been resolved with Maryland two years ago.

So, you're buying a $50,000 car without knowing for sure you can actually register and drive it on public roads? Do you have a back up plan? Maybe another residence in another state you can register it in?

It will all be resolved one way or the other before I pay the balance. Only a 5K deposit so far. Looks like we'll be OK, but we're dealing with government, right?

My point exactly. Lotsa luck here.

Do you have another residence you can register it to, maybe another family member in another state?

Yeah...plan "B", but ideally like to avoid that and do it all straight.

Can't believe it's been this hard for you...really ridiculous.
Happy to tag and title it here in FL for you should it come down to it!
...come to think of it, that's how I've helped a few people out. FL will tag and title just about anything that moves under its own power. Once issued a tag/title, it's very easy to tag and title in any other state!

I could probably do that with Pennsylvania as well. The downside is I be paying Pennsylvania tax on $50,000 and then Maryland tax on $50,000. I hope it doesn't come to that

Don't talk to me about tax, it has just cost me £140 in import duty and VAT to get my own rear drive pulley back into the country from Supermax.

Uh...beats paying 6% to register the car in another state and then again to redo it in Maryland!
