The 1.8m scaffolding tube simply turns the wheel on the garage floor. I'll back the car out onto the tarmac drive tomorrow to try and get a bit more friction. It loosened the other 3 factory fitted wheels but this one was refitted by our dealer in Northwich. It may have been the body builder with the 3m bar.
ps. I am turning it clockwise before anyone asks.

They self tighten, I always used copper slip on the splines. But be careful they will be very sharp.

A good bash with the hammer should work

The splines shouldn't be sharp, it's a sign of wear.

There's no need to tighten it that much, mulberrys wire wheel spanner is more than adequate.

That picture exactly shows how tough those nuts can be ! Imagine being stuck on the side of the M6 or M1 or even m25 at night trying to undo those little beauties !

You could try getting someone to whack the wheel nut with a heavy mallet / club hammer while you apply pressure to the scaffolding pole and shock it loose. Works more often than not, worth a try.

This, the insertion of a picture in a post on a gallery thread, has not been possible up till now so it looks as though the latest version of the forum software has fixed it.

Hopefully it won't cause some other problem.
