Just had a quick look thanks Edgar. Impressive material but I bet it would be a job to get hold of.

I don’t think the Devol bushes are available any longer which is a pity although I see that Devlon S still features on James Walker website, somebody may know different?

There are several producers of PEEK rod stock shape, Quadrant in the UK should stock it in FC30 form, not sure what the minimum quantity would be. Its expensive stuff.

Further to this Quadrant PEEK Ketron HPV grade would be the one to enquire about.

Thanks for enlightening Me about "filled". I now understand. Take a look at Vesconite.com. Not sure what it is made of. I do know that the Ship Yard I worked at used Vesconite for bearing material. I have good luck with it. We have a Canadian Master Machinist (with a couple of Morgans) that has supplied the local Morgan Owners with bushings. I have sourced the Vesconite. But as I said on an earlier post. I do buy it in volume. $500 or more. I think it is a shame that Morgan Spares, MMC, Mel Rutter or Peter Mulberry don't take a better look at this stuff. Sure works for Me. Very easy to machine if You understand machining plastic. Actually it was a Australian Mining Engineer (also Morgan Owner) that told Me about this stuff.

Vesconite was used quite extensively in the mining industry in South Africa. Their Sales folks used to e-mail me to put an order in to try it. They were quite secretive from memory about its constituent parts. I'm sure its a good bearing material but looking at the properties I think I would prefer PEEK as its the Rolls Royce of Thermoplastics.

Well I guess I will have to try PEEK in nothing more to prove You are wrong and Vesconite is the best bearing material on the planet. I agree that Vesconite is not very forthcoming about what the underlying material is. Probably Giraffe Poop.

I already found a price of a rod 3' long. About $100 US give or take.

Vesconite is about the same.

Raw material about $7US each.

This thread has become very technical, i have been a trad owner for 44 years, [six road morgans +others] all have been engine oiled, or greased kingpins. Only changed one set of bushes in all those years, if its not broke don't try and fix it. And yes the cars have been in use.

Obsessive compulsive disorders manifests in many ways here on TM. Whilst not a cure Morgan ownership appears to offers an outlet.

Well said Roger!

I will leave this subject alone for a while. Maybe it is time to discuss the selection of shock absorbers (dampers) again. I can entertain "Talk Morgan" on this subject "adnauseum" !!!!!
