Too bad I live so far away. I have the molds for GRP for the rear Wings. Made by Cuthbert Twillie. Make a great winter project. I have never used them as I agree with Tim. By the time I got them done I would have "Mega Hours and $'s in this project plus I am not that skilled to do a acceptable job.

haven't had a chance to do anything yet, but thanks for the replies. Will look into getting it sorted in the new year. Hopefully we'll have a day soon where it isn't grey and damp outside and I can get the car out for more than 5 minutes!

Oo-er, that doesn't look good, does it? You could bodge it with some de-rusting treatment and some filler, but I don't think it would last very long, maybe a year or two, before the rust came back.

You could remove the wing, get it stripped and AP coated and get someone to weld in some repair patches, and that might be an attractive option depending on how much work you could do yourself and how much you'd be paying in labour charges. Getting rear wings off can be a pig of a job, people normally just grind off the fixing bolts and refit them with stainless screws into the wood from inside the wheelarch - otherwise you have to strip out all the rear cockpit lining and the rear section of the tub to get to the bolt heads.

If you just want to keep the car looking smart and useable for minimum outlay, you could go for a pair of fibreglass replacements. That's a standard solid colour, so any car repair shop should be able to do a decent match with the paint.

Best of luck whatever you decide.

Not sure where you are in Devon but these guys have an excellent reputation and did some minor scratch repair for me on my MB when I had it. If relatively local to you might be worth taking It and see what they say

Does not look good I know, but you'd be amazed what a chap can do with a piece of metal a mig welder and some filler, and possibly no need to remove the wing just the wheel.

Best to replace the wing, you could end up repairing that area only to find the rust will come back further round the wheel arch.

Not an easy repair because of the wired edges, and it looks like its been filled in the past. But it can still be repaired with a bit of time and care.

Yes, and it appeared from putting the car in the garage to taking it out a week later! I'm sure it's been repaired in the past. I'm quite tempted by the idea of the grp wings-would I need to replace both rear wings? Any idea what sort of costs would be involved?
