Yes I think that would solve My problem. Maybe Bob McDiarmid Canadian Master Machinist and Morgan owner can help Me with this. But I suspect Peter makes something He inserts in the stub axle to reverse the cone shape. I will get in touch with Him.

OK!! Now I remember the logic for using the Suplex Kit. This is the logic of an 85 year old who is by Himself this Winter, with a little too much time on His hands. I paid about $1,000 Seattle for the Suplex Kit. Tested it and I agree it does as advertised. Now with this investment I figured to install it in My +8 Bitsa, cure the Bump Steer and achieve a better riding +8 with the same Money. I cured the Bump Steer by lowering the ride height. Genius I am. BUT - I am having a bit of trouble fitting the Bilstein Shock. It would be easy with a Monroe and inexpensive, but if I understand it the Bilstein Shock is valved for this application. I want to use it. At the moment I have 2" up and 1" down. And that is it STOP BANG! trying to find out if I have a little wiggle room.
BTW: I have been driving for 1,000's of Miles this Fall with No Shock at all. Be nice to find out how it performs with Bilstein's.

Button, I have had numerous discussions with Peter Ballard(PJB) on the Suplex setup, he as you may be aware is the designer. They are in fact in the process of tuning and setting up some other shock absorbers as some people do not like the initial roll in feel it can give you. It was a critisism I had with it. After talking with Peter one option I suggested was Quantum dual adjustable shock absorbers, then you can control bump and rebound independently, not cheap but very good. I had 140lbs springs on my +8 and lowered 1" but with Avo adjustables, these worked quite well and are cheaper, Mulfab can supply them. Hope this helps.

Suspension Modifications are addictive. Also subjective. Sort of like an Eye Exam. "Is it better this way or that way?" Yes I know Peter Ballard. He invented "Hooke's Law" you know. Once We, who were in denial, accepted that "Hooke's Law" was a "Given". Setting up a Morgan Front end became easier and more predictable. I did not notice any Roll characteristics when I tested the Suplex Kit with My '63 +4 or My '61 DHC (with ZETEC). But when I installed Suplex to cure Bump Steer in My +8 Bitsa I had a terrible time establishing "Ride Height" (due to stiction) And fitting the Bilstein Shock with 3" window. I sometime feel that the King Pin system because of its caster/camber is a shock absorber itself. I do have a Mulfab Thrust bearing and spring. I might just take Your advice.

OK! I contacted MULFAB. Looks like lowering 1" is even easier than I thought. Peter M. Makes a shorter 140 in/lb spring to accomplish this. No adjustable dust cover. Neat! Thanks.

I believe the Quantum shocks have now been signed off for production and should be available from Suplex in the new year.
If you feel that you need a higher spring rate for the Plus 8 I also believe that there may be a suitable spring available from the race version of the Suplex RS front suspension that may well suit you. This would have the advantage of preserving the rising rate system and the adjustability of the Suplex RS.
Peter Ballard chose to stay with the same bearings that Morgan use as standard but I imagine that the Mulfab spec bearing would be a drop-in replacement if desired.
PS. If you want to lower the car with the Suplex system you simply place the supplied spacer below the stub axle with the rebound spring and set the adjuster rings to suit.

By "Rising Rate" system. Is this not achieved by simply setting (cutting) the rebound spring in such a manner that the force of the Main Spring is not exerted onto the rebound?
As for adjustable shocks. Is that not the same as re-valving?
PJB and I had quite an exchange at the early stages of Suplex Kit. I doubt He wants to revisit. We probably need a "Divorce Councillor".

Rising rate: requires an increase in pressure for the same deflection as a spring compresses... So for example the first inch requires 140lb, the next requires 180lb &c.

Thanks Graham, that is My understanding. I get the implication from Peter that Peter Mulberry's set up is not "rising rate". It gets rather confusing as I want the "ride height" at static to be at a location certain. I think I have accomplish this with the Suplex Kit. But Mulfab is providing an alternate solution. Not to worry I have several pairs of main springs at different spring rates. One more won't bother Me. I also have 5 leaf and 6 leaf rear springs and a couple modified (by Me). To say the least I have quite a lot invested trying to sort out Morgan Suspension. BTW: the best handling and most comfortable Morgan I own is a 1964 +4-4Str with the Original front springs, Koni shock on all 4 corners and Modified rear spring by (damn forgot His name. But He recently modified AVO shocks for a Morgan). Old age ain't helping here.
