thats terrible news, hopefully it's as high as it's going to get. I can only imagine how you must feel. As for your Morgan, if the water hasn't risen high enough to get to the interior it'll probably be ok. If it's only a matter of a few inches making all the difference, Is it possible to get some jacks under it? Thoughts are with you and let's hope for things to get better quickly.

Stewart, I admire how you are handling the situation and are keeping spirits high! This will be Christmas to be remebered! From the dutch weatherman, I understood outlook is such that your situation should improve. Hope materiality of the damage is not to bad and your Morgan is ok. From all these reports on flooding in the UK, I would gather that there is a call for some important infrastructural improvements fascilitated with adequate water management? I whish you all the best for you and family! Kind regards, BertR

Watching the www before it seems that so much of the North of England is either under water or about to go under water. The effects of all of this are far reaching.
We often have to put families up in our cottages where their home has flooded out through some pipe failure. From experience these incidents take between 10-12 weeks from the flood occurring to being rehoused as kitchens etc have to be dismantled, driers put in to remove the moisture, plaster taken off the walls, electrics stripped out and replaced and floors and doors, architraves, skirting boards etc being replaced. That's when it is one property affected. What has and is happening currently is on a epic scale which I hate to say is going to take a long time for many people to get back to normal as the insurance companies, builders, suppliers of driers etc will be at absolute full stretch.
At this moment I am thankful for many things and for Stewart and his family it is bad enough being flooded out and then you see on the news many people have already been flooded out 3 times in the last month with the prospect of it happening again. The centre of Rochdale andManchester have experienced flooding, York has 3,500 homes being evacuated tonight and a 200 year old former pub on a bridge near Bury collapsed.
Ten years ago we were at a wedding of a friend of ours who lives on the outskirts of London and she was saying then that in 10-20 years time people would be wanting to move up to Scotland to be on higher ground and be away from the risks of flooding affecting the rest of the country. We all thought she had lost her marbles then.

Very sorry about this Stewart. As soon as you get power and the water subsides, get a dehumidifier in the garage. You might also think about having some wooden blocks or ramps so that you can lift your Morgan a cotton into the air. You have my sympathy. We have not had water in the house, being a long way up a hillside, but I and MissW had life threatening experiences in the Sheffield floods of 2007 which I wouldn't want to go through again! York is usually on top of this, but the fosse pumping station has failed and they have had to open some sluices so it's not good.

really sorry to hear your news Stewart - but grateful that the water seems to be receding.
My sister lives in Cockermouth (thankfully, her house is OK) and of course, they have been through this all before.
The only comfort to take is that most everything can be repaired or replaced and that things will get back to normal.Pleased that the Mog. seems to have escaped unscathed too.
Best wishes, James

BBC weather has it that the rain should now have stopped, until Wednesday.
Here's hoping that's the worst of it past

Stewart don't worry to much about the mog if it hasn't gone completely under. It will dry out. About six years ago Taff mog got caught in a heavy rain storm while on a run. About six cars where caught in two foot of water. All these cars where dried out and are still in use with no problems. All the best over the coming days.

Sorry to wake and hear your news Simon. Hopefully day break will bring better news and conditions for you.
If you need your Morgan drying, feel free to ship it here and I'll leave it in the garden for a few hours before I'll return it.

Well! I never thought our house would be flooded
We live in a Lancashire village called Croston which is known for its flood risk but our house is a long way from the river and even at its worst in 1987 ( before we moved in ) our Road/ street / cul de sac wasn't affected
Tonight unfortunately we are now camped upstairs with no electricity ( sub station flooded ) having moved all our valuable stuff upstairs, marooned with the Ground Floor flooded
The worst part is the garage flooded first and the water is now up to the underside of the Morgan
We have been inundated with calls from friends offering help and the first thing they ask is how's the Morgan !
It's damp, I reply
For the first time I'm really not bothered about a leaky roof in the torrential rain It's a crazy world. 116 houses lost to a bushfire here in Victoria and floods back in the old country! Really feel for you......hope damage is kept to minimum possible. Neil
