All driver aids - the day I can`t park, steer, know it`s raining, do a hill start or reverse will be the day I give up driving. Oh, yes! How I agree with all of that. I would say that between you all the things we hate about modern cars have been covered. Not quite - cup holders. If you want a drink stop somewhere, give yourself a 10-minute break and enjoy it. It's also safer, and for those en route to business meetings you don't risk spilling coffee/tea down your shirt.

I have to agree with you and I think that 3 years of Morgan ownership has made me become so uninterested in newer cars and all the gadgetry. I feel I have now morphed into my father who in the 1980s nearly treated himself to a new BMW 3 series on retirement but couldn't bring himself to do it because it had electric windows fitted as standard! Now I have a car that doesn't have windows! (Except for side screens when the car is fitted with )

@lowebird I'd reckon the Morgan suffers less than most from being over designed/over featured
Meanwhile: - my 2 door Avantime has heated seats: the heating element cracks when the seat's folded forwards, to let passengers into the rear. It's as if the guy who designed the heating element didn't speak to the bloke with the seat.
- my Saab has an LED tailstrip across the width of the car, which is wired to fail. It's then almost impossible to remove said strip in one piece. They don't make replacement strips.
- the Saab again - it has an altimeter style speedo [amongst the display options in the centre of the binnacle]. It's a 'display within a display' - the surrounding instrument being, yes, you guessed, a speedo. Why would I want two speedos?

I totally agree on this, new cars have to many features that you don´t need. I decide 5 years ago to drive an english car as a daily driver. living in Sweden it should then also cope with snow an cold. I then bought a Range Rover 4.6 HSE 2000 last year of the old p38 model, super car, inexpensive spare parts, low tax and insurance cost, nil depreciation, and very basic with no extra fuss! Yes it likes petrol but if you drive it as it should it is not that bad and you can fill it up a lot for the the depreciation of a modern car. I have now covered 50 000 miles in five years and its a lot cheaper per miles than any of my previous modern cars.

Fox I'm with you on stupidly big wheels that ruin the ride, increase fuel consumption & they charge lumps of cash for the privilege.
We don't need privacy glass unless a drug dealer or Premiership footballer. Make your dark car look like a van. Richard what you need to cut down on the heat is Sundym glass its only lightly tinted. It was fitted to my 1964 Bentley S3.
Flat bottom steering wheels are on my hate list & seem pointless. Hope this fad goes the way of vinyl roofs.
Keyless entry & start to make you car easier to steal.

Stop start has to be my pet hate. The Polo auto I was loaned recently was almost impossible to drive with that. I hardly use any of the functions on my Golf. I don't even like cruise control and I certainly don't like e - handbrakes.
Oh and I forgot about Corporate stagnation in design. No innovation allowed, they all must look the same, Not talking about Morgan, but most of the rest.

We had a guest stay recent.y who had a 2 year old Subaru & the electronic handbrake failed. As he bought the car in the Is.e of Man and the dealer had gone bust he had it fixed, at his expense over here. The dealer. Told him first it was costing him £450 to replace for which he nearly fell off his chair and then when he went to pick up the car was told they should have charged him £750 but would honour the previous price that only covered their costs. Too clever by half - never had to replace handbrake cable yet - hope I don't on the Morgan either!
