That I replaced a 2013 BMW 320i M Sport with all the electronic stuff that BMW "include" with a 2008 Mercedes CLC that has 16"wheels and 60 profile tyres, no driver aids, no start stop and no turbo speaks volumes.
Inside the cab it looks like a car I understand.
Less is more.
The ONLY modern bit of technology I like are the HID/LED Adaptive lights, but my night vision is very poor.

I seem to have trouble turning my bloody car off
I hit the start stop button and it seems to ignore it so I press it again and the engine goes off, I have to press it yet again to turn all the electrics off and then it sometimes ignores that
Oh and the electronic handbrake sometimes engages when I start it up without me realising so it stops me driving off
Other than those gripes I have to say that this new BMW 520 M Sport Auto Touring I got last September is the best car I've driven in terms of eating up motorway miles

Things I like: Head up display - especially in a powerful car in town. Auto lights - by which I mean just leave the dial in auto and you have DRL and then lights when you need them (Supersport has that too) Electric and heated seats Dimming mirrors Park distance control - surround view is even better from BMW. Keyless entry Stop/Start (although I appear to be the only fan)
Stuff I don't like: Speed limit warnings Shift up lights Dynamic/sport buttons that tighten everything up and don't allow you the choice of sharp throttle with soft suspension Auto dipping lights - full beam Rain sensors - they just can't do light drizzle, fog or spray very well Active cruise control - they are getting better but they simply can't mimic real driving Navigation systems that come on more than one DVD
Seat belt bongs are actually a requirement on the NCAP test - you lose points if you don't have it.

All driver aids - the day I can`t park, steer, know it`s raining, do a hill start or reverse will be the day I give up driving. Totally agree. Me too! Thinking about it, I just hate modern cars... Period!

Part of the appeal of the M3W is no electronic "aids", one column stalk & only 4 switches. Simples
I bought a second hand Jaguar S Type. The electronic handbrake failed before I got home so they came & collected it on a trailer.

The fact that the off switch for the fog lights seems to be impossible to locate for many drivers...
