Some of you will remember the grey Plus 4 damaged at TOTH 2015. It is currently on eBay breaking for spares item no 172054433448. It seems such a shame that a 2300 mile old Mog is written off and broken for spares. Surely the car could have been rebuilt considering its market value even if its resale value would be 25% or so 'under book' ? Anybody got any thoughts?

Its a shame we probably couldn't import this car and rebuild it in Australia. not sure of the underlying damage though. It looks like he is only trying to get a bite on the complete vehicle.
It looks like a Uk cat 'B' write off, breaking only. Yes it probably needs a new chassis, frame front, wings, bulkhead and maybe bits of wood but even so.....a shame IHMO.

Not an easy ad to find unless you search the item number. In the past this would have been an ideal rebuild project for a confident person but under today's insurance/DVLA rules, its probably not worth it. In my opinion this is an easy rebuild and it's only the labour costs that render the rebuild uneconomic for the insurance company.
what do we think the write off company will make from spare parts if they try to sell them all on ebay? Does anyone know what the rules around importing a wreck into Australia (or other countries are?) would you have to get a compliance plate at import or when it was repaired and you wished to reregister?

You'd at least have to straighten it before putting it over the pits at Osborne Park
Damaged Vehicles - A vehicle that has been structurally damaged cannot be fitted with a Used Import Plate. The RAW(Registered Automotive Workshop) must assess each vehicle for damage against guidelines prescribed in legislation - if the vehicle does not meet these requirements it must be exported or destroyed - irrespective of whether the damage has been repaired or is repairable.
I was talking to the track marshal who was a witness to the prang.
The engine is toast as the oil filter was ripped off and the engine block cracked. The chassis and front suspension is scrap and both wings and the bonnet/cowl.
The body tub is fine, so anyone who needs a new body might be interested.....
