If one takes the rose-tints off for a moment, it's a wrecked car regardless of the manufacturer. It's not historically significant, not old enough to be vicariously attached to the heartstrings and nothing other than a crashed car really.

Anything can be rebuilt given the time and resources, but who'd want to bother?

It would always have a marker against it's history and thus significantly less value than a straight car, you'd have to make the declaration annually for insurance purposes and would always have the question posed by the authorities whenever there's a change of owner.

The cost of rebuild wouldn't be far short of a new car, unless you did it yourself in which case I wouldn't touch it if it was for sale.

Make a bid for the undamaged bits.....the interior looks ok...seats,dash etc.
Could be a route for someone restoring a similar car to save some £££ on bits. The question is what would be transferable re fit and at what cost?

The seats... The car is coach built, so although there are fixed dimensions to things, stuff will have been 'adjusted' to fit.

The wooden frame might be better than one would think, but the longer it stays bolted to that chassis won't help at all. However, with no photos showing the damage, I'd advise extreme caution here, quite obvious the scrappy is trying to maximise their income.

I'm guessing though that they are going to hold out for too much money, and anyone doing a rebuild will find it cheaper in the long run to buy new/reproduction parts. It's not as if there is a shortage of specialist making them.

Other than that it was pretty easy for me. I just kept telling myself that I had 2,500 km to drive to get the car home.

For me Shelsley Walsh is a very unforgiving track narrow, and in a left hand drive car I found it difficult to sight the left hand curves. I suppose the right hand hairpin, where the incident occurred, is equally difficult in a right hand drive car.

By comparison the lovely road, wide enough for two trucks to pass, that is used for the hill climb at Caramulo is an absolute pleasure to drive.

It's terribly easy to run out of talent on track days and hill climbs. I have been extremely lucky not to have totalled any of my cars over the years - it can happen so quickly.

I was chatting to a friend over the weekend about our foolish track exploits over the years in some fairly exotic machinery... never again.

When I was in my twenties this was exactly the type of project I took on. If you have the skills and facilities, it's and easy way to end up with a Morgan at a very affordable price.

The chassis of the current range of Trads are all the same dimensions.

The owner of the car was fully covered by insurance and is now happily driving a new Morgan you'll all be pleased to hear.

I think the big question is, how much is this write off worth. I might take a guess at around £2000?

£2k might be what we would want to pay but I suspect the asking price may be closer to £10k.
It could be a nice cottage industry buying up written off Morgans and selling the parts. It would need a bit of space though.
