Bunny, very smart looking M3W... I love the looks of the added height and width. I'm sure the function will be welcomed after you have some miles driving with them. As you had no issues with the installation, I would like to add a tip for others. When drilling polycarbonate, PETG, plexiglass etc, a fluted drill bit can catch into the plastic and either quickly be sucked into the hole, chip the plastic or worse, crack it out from the hole. Over the many years of fabricating machinery guards and other around the house and motorcycle plastic fabricating, I've gotten very used to using stepped drills. Unibit is a brand name that I believe started the technology. These are available at good prices from Harbor Freight here in the US and probably other discount houses in the UK and Europe. Although the Harbor Freight stepped bits are very cheap and not "Unibit" brand, they do work good for plastics and light metals. These are the ONLY bits I would use to drill body weight aluminum, sorry, aluminium... Sorry for being so wordy as usual. But thought this would be a good time to offer the suggestion on drill bits.

I always thought steppped drills meant working your way up the drill pack to enlarge a pilot hole - consider me now more educated! PS: great thread - just ordered my screen last night.

PaulV, I would not be against using a very small, say a 1.5mm standard fluted drill as a pilot to create a hole to follow. The stepped drills alone can start without any pilot at all in steel and plastics. But the small drill to follow would keep the stepped drill hole centered without any side creep from the correct location. In thinner sheet metal, standard 2-fluted drills will make a 3-sided hole. How they do that is beyond me, but they are NOT pretty that way. You can also use the next step up to de-burr your final hole on both sides for a great looking finish. I probably have 9 or 12 of these at home of varying sizes. They come in a 3-pack usually. I like the long stepped bits the best, but sometimes they don't have the sizes I need. I hope you all have a great weekend...

Depending on the material, I prefer to start with a spring centre punch - but not on thin aluminium! - or acrylic! If necessary I use a hand pin chuck (revolving top pin vice) to make a start. http://www.anticsonline.co.uk/2413_1_10903.htmlI discovered the Unibit drill a few years ago and wouldn't be without it. Absolutely brilliant. https://www.agriemach.com/c436-automotiv...43-unibit-drill

Dave, ya gotta love the spring center punches... You can see what you're without hands in the way. I have two sizes of them, but usually the smaller one works for most projects. And yes again for the stepped drills!!! They have been a very nice addition to my tool box.

Fabulous job Bunny.
I do understand those who prefer the look of the originals and like a blast in their face. Just not for me especially if one intends to do long distances in all weathers.
As I have said several times the Fairbourne Screen transforms the driving experience and I could never go back to standard Aero Screens.

No one has commented on the price!
I think the new fitting looks "right", more so than the aero screens. Assuming that is one is after the aircraft cockpit look.........
