Seen lots of good vids from M3Ws. What are folks using to mount their GoPros, Mobiuses etc?

Options look like:
- suction mount on bodywork: effects on paint?
- rollbar mount: something like this clamp?
- might not work with the Aussie / larger headrests?

I use one of these on the roll bar above the passengers head ( I cant remember offhand which size ) with a bolt onto the normal gopro mount

I dont trust suction cups etc, camera is too expensive !

I got a super cheap single suction cup mount on Amazon and a Morgan Hat Lanyard from the MMCs online shop and I clip the lanyard around the roll hoop and have attached the other end to the mount. Suction it between the roll hoops and so far have not had it come undone... except for the first time I put it on when I hadn't cleaned the surface before sticking it down; you need to make sure that the surface is super clean before you suction it because any dirt or road grime will make it lose its grip.

Here is my first test of the suction mount and camera from a couple years ago, the audio cuts out at the end for no reason.

Here is center mounted with a passenger, this is one of the first long trips I recorded and you will see me checking to make sure that it is still stuck down.

Thanks - good idea. The GoPro plastic rollbar mount needs an extension to make the camera see forward and would be a difficult fit on top of the large rollhoop due to the headrest being in the way - but that clamp looks ideal.

That has the advantage of being less high versus on top of the roll hoop... any problems with the paint under the suction cup?

No, its a rather supple rubber and since you have to really clean the surface before you stick it down, there shouldn't be any dirt or grit to do any damage to the paint. I usually give the suction cup a good hot breath or two to help it adhere, and when it is removed you will have to wipe down where it was as it will leave a smudgy circle, but it wipes right off.

Here is the mount that I got:
www.amazon.com/degrees-Rotation-Suction-...up+camera+mount

Plus this Cap Lanyard:
http://www.morgan-motor.co.uk/mmc/shop/i...ap-lanyard.html

Remove the clip from the ends and replace with a small carabiner clip (got one for $0.30 at the hardware store), then completely remove the adjustable screw on stopper that goes just below the camera when attached and put the opposite end of the carabiner around the screw. Reattach the adjustable screw on stopper thingy and you are good to go.

I have most mounts for the GoPro. I've used the roll bar mount the least as is gets in the way. I've used the suction mount the most as it is so versitile. Using an external mic can also have an impact on where the camera is mounted. I don't think there is a definitive answer, just what works for you. its pretty easy to work out what is being used in these videos

I have one almost identical to Mi3wheelers and have used it between the roll hoops, one the side above the exhaust and on the bonnet (hood), with no issues at all.

I started off with a suction mount with a string safety line which works fine. I then changed to Veho VCC-025-LPM MUVI mount for the roll bar. More peace of mind with a secure mount. I use it with a Sony Action Cam. It has a standard tripod thread. You need to tighten the swivel nut well as I found the camera slowly tilting down.

Do not buy the Veho VCC-AO17 which is too small for the roll bar despite many suppliers still describing it as 5 cm x 4cm diameter. I bought one but it would not fit. Supplier took it back but would not refund postage relying on Veho description. I contacted Veho & they admitted description was wrong & changed their web page to 3.3cm dia. Refereed back to supplier & they then refunded postage.

Tim.
