Roger has an Audi we both hate the bloody thing its badly thought out and a crap shape I find it hell to get close to the wall or cars when parking along with you have to look down eyes off the road to sort out the tiny buttons on its so called dash . But goes like sxxx off a stick 80 mph 2000 revs on the motor way I have lost my taste for speed 60 & 70 on other roads , buts that's all it has . As for the drugs we are both hooked onto jelly babies ( I love the black ones ) there is always an empty packet in the centre console ( its full before we start our journey but they get sucked into the air con Audi's are noted for it .

It certainly seems to me that whenever I see a car being driven at daft speeds without regard to the road conditions, it's either an Audi, a BMW, or a Mercedes.

I don't see much of a difference in distribution, though. I think it's down to the fact that most modern cars are far too fast enough for the average driver, and there's so much secondary safety that the drivers assume that the car will always get them out of trouble.

Had an Audi S5 for 5 yrs. Got fed up with A5 TDI drivers acting like idiots overtaking in the most dangerous places. Something about A5 drivers seem to all be wannabes. & I don't drive exactly slowly but do try to keep to the speed limits on country roads.
I think you have a point about them being on "Coke"

Driver feels invincible due to high NCAP and swathe of airbags, ABS, traction control, aircon, no seat of the pants feel to the car.....

This what annoys me, modern " safety" features seem to create this invincibility feeling and insulation from the road and traffic.

In Australia it was always the Volvo drivers you had to watch out for. Volvo spent a huge amount on publicity that stressed the safety features of the car and just how well protected you were in the case of a crash. At that time they were also heavy and not very powerful for the Australian market so nobody who wanted a car with a bit of performance and handling would ever buy one. The end result was that they were predominantly owned by people who knew they were terrible drivers and felt unsafe on the road.

I seem to remember back in about 1980 when the first Quattro's came out they released 10 on the German market to some loyal customers and about 4 were totalled in a very short space of time along with their drivers, such was the confidence inspired by the four wheel drive.
The 4 rings all stand for a fundamental orifice, Mouth, 2 x nostrils and the last one is named after the driver ( Arschloch) in an Audi

Could it be that the rise in idiot drivers being in Audis is that they came a little late to the BMW/Merc party but, having arrived with better looking cars that are very well built, the idiots have taken to them in droves like sheep.?
When I had my Audis, they were always seen as the thinking mans car, the Merc was for the older driver and the BMW was for the afore said idiots.
It's a real pity that modern cars are so powerful and insulate the driver to such an extent. When we all started driving you could hear and feel every aspect of the drive and could tell when something was amiss or that you had overdone the loud pedal but at the speeds we were doing you had time, and space, to correct it.
Our local super market has just put up signs that electric buggies must not proceed above walking pace whilst in the store, perhaps Audi has got there too!!!!

My Morgans brought me back to "real" driving and back to all the fun I had with cars when I was young.
