The figures say the club is living beyond it's means.
Perhaps MMC and MSCC should combine their finance teams……. or perhaps not!!!

I was sent a copy of the accounts last week. All sales and subsubscriptions are down and with the exception miscellany printing/postage, costs are flat or up.

Well thats a concern for any "business".
The only Strategies are:
1. Increase Revenue
2. Cut Costs
3. A combo of the above!
I would guess that there are £Reserves- but its a dangerous plan to dip too deep into those!

Actually, I think the only sensibly available strategy is to increase revenue, since cutting costs will mean cutting services, which will exacerbate the falling sales and subscriptions.
Furthermore, increasing revenue cannot mean extracting more from the existing membership, as that will also lead to further falls in subscription income.
As far as I can see, the way to turn the MSCC round is to broaden its appeal so as to increase its membership.
Without a significant change, I will not be renewing my subscription for 2016, I'll give the money to Simon instead, I get far more from TalkMorgan than ever I get from the MSCC.

All very sensible thinking. As a newcomer, I found the print & post membership application off-putting - I still haven't done it. I wonder how many memberships are lost to this out-dated process? +, it's more expensive to process... so a lose-lose approach.

Good grief, I had to go and check and you are correct. You still can't join online. This is what a prospective new member is presented with from the club's website www.mscc.uk.com/membership: You've got to be really keen to join faced with that! For years the MSCC has been promising a revamp of its website but from the latest Miscellany I see we are no further forward. ~iw

Print is dead, long live print.
The design, formate, photography and storytelling are outdated and I feel don't match the Morgan brand (bar the aftershave). It's a disposable and does nothing for its image.
If you're going to make a print magazine then make something worth making.
I think it would help if it were quarterly, bigger with a heap more inspiring content.

agree totally. I didn't renew, couldn't see any point as I don't want to play golf or a monthly drive to meet for lunch in my tin top. Get the club back to its grass roots, provide a better range of services for enthusiasts that actually drive their cars, take out the nay sayers to change and I'd join back up in a flash.
